Looking at local gauges looks like less than an inch of accumulation so far with some additional scattered showers possible this morning.
In the Fall and Winter cooler temps and vegetation not absorbing, the water does not get absorbed as quickly. FATS is too wet to ride. If the USFS does not close FATS (see above)the trail will likely be ready to ride on Saturday (we normally have about 2 inches of rain in November and have had less than an inch). Stay tuned for updates and check out the other trails in the area in the meantime.

Report on the FATS rain gauge which is much closer to FATS than the airport gauges, there was just under 1 1/2 inches of rain - FATS needs to dry out - should be good by the weekend!

We had steady soaking rain beginning early on Tuesday and through early this morning. The trails at FATS will be too wet to ride until at least Friday. Unfortunately this weekend's rain prediction does not look too hopeful at this point with more rain in the forecast. Please do not ride these trails when they are wet. Thank you!

Today is the first day with no rain and sunshine in quite a while. This time of year with cooler temperatures, overcast skies and foliage not absorbing water as it did during the growing season, the trails stay wetter longer after periods of rain. Despite the sunny, dry day today, the trails will still be too wet to ride for at least another day. We will try to get an assessment and word out by Friday morning. Unfortunately there is a 90% chance of rain predicated on Saturday.

Quick spot check on the trails this morning revealed a firm tread with some soft, damp spots. Trail should be okay to ride (please report if you ride and find otherwise in a particular area thanks!). They are predicting 100% chance of rain on Saturday however so get it while you can!

Rained from mid-morning until just after 7 yesterday and more after midnight. The trails were still damp from the previous rainfall so suspect the trails will need AT LEAST two full days to dry out. Prediction is for better weather in the coming week!

Rode Great Wall and Skinny this afternoon (tue). There was more standing water than I thought there would be. Probably 80% of the trail is fine but the other 20% makes the experience unenjoyable. Unless you like getting cold water and gritty dirt all over you and in the components on your bike, I'd wait a couple days to ride these two.

Brown Wave is not much better. I was really surprised to see as much water still on the trails. Starting out on Skinny going clockwise it looks very promising but quickly get's wet on the back half. Should be good to go for the weekend.

Report in on trail conditions after the system, that moved through on Sunday and into Monday, dumped a lot of rain on the area - trails still very wet and too wet to ride. It will take a few days for things to dry out. Stay tuned!

The trails were just beginning to dry out when the system came through yesterday. High water table levels, the trees not absorbing the water at fast rates this time of year and cooler temperatures all affect the dying time.
It will be at least two or three days without additional rain before the trails are dry enough to ride at FATS!
Thank you!

Scout reports are in and the trail is still too wet to ride unfortunately and a new system is predicted to be here with more rain on Thursday. Please select alternate outlying trails to avoid damaging FATS.
