New section for January 01, 2013. Phenomenal. Tread was great. Several non-riders down, but when you stop and look around at the dead pines, we will be dealing with this for years to come. Kudos to the sawyers attempting to keep things clear this past year. Lots of evidence of that. Thanks for the sweat-equity. We'll be joining you for more this great year. MD

Rode burg to West Dam this afternoon. Non riders at 0.2 and 2.8 miles (from WD) for the main trail. Lake Springs loop has 4 non riders, spread about evenly. Second what MD says about the sawyers. Forgot to add-- pulled a tick off at the end of the ride

Cool and drizzly there this am, 43 degrees, but trails in great shape. Downed trees on Lake Spring all cut as well as entrance from West Dam.

Both sides of Bartram are great right now (did not do the Lake Springs loop). It looks like there have been plenty of riders and hikers on the trail, the leaves are well worn and the pine needles roughed up so not as slick! Great riding this past weekend, so good to meet friends out enjoying the trails as well.

Bartram was great yesterday. Rode from Petersburg (Mile 6.5) to Mile 14.5 and back. One big non rider around mile 10.0. Onlya few minor wet spots. Glad to see all tracks going through middle. Get out and get some while FATS is drying out.

As stated, Bartram is good right now. Just a handful of wet spots today. Chased Ben from Petersburg out and around Keg and back. I'm whooped. This little roller is fun. Nearly face planted trying to jump it the other direction tho, it bucks a little ;D Ben is waaay better at wheelies than I am.

Tread in good shape. Some small muddy areas in the dips. From the 'burg to Wildwodd, trees down near 8.5, by the metal bridge?, 12.5' and 14. There are a few others but may be riders. Two of the ones mentioned can ride by but may widen the ail over time.

Thinking about riding this instead of FATS. Yall think it will be dry? We rode the new section of Bartram (Petersburg to Wildwood) last night and, while O.K. for riding, saw lots of spots that were the wettest we've seen it in a long time. Mostly, this is because drains need to be cleared. Go ride. p.s. Someone was out there recently and cleared several downed trees from the trail. Thank you. Unfortunately, the wind/storm from last week knocked down more trees. A few are riders, but most will need to be removed with a chainsaw.

Where exactly does the new section start?

Park at Petersburg and it starts on the other side of the road from the parking lot. It is a little over 9 miles to Wildwood and 11ish to Washington Rd. These are all one way distances. If you want more miles, when you get to Washington Rd.keep riding across the road on Keg Creek trail. Go Ride. Have Fun.

Where exactly does the new section start? Here is a link to Bartram trail on Google maps. As Brian said, park at Petersburg. West is new section, east is older section.

PF and I cleaned drains on new Bartram today. Starting at Petersburg and going west about 4.5 miles, we got most of the spots holding significant amounts of water. We passed over a few mushy spots on the way back because we were beat and hungry. Lastly, there were a few wet spots that will take a long time to drain because they are on level terrain and may need to be armored.
Thanks to Steve S. and his posse for cutting out all the downed trees.

'burg to the Dam had some wet areas, mostly in areas that had armor. IMO, any ruts formed will be taken care of with normal riding. Two trees down, one about half way between sailboat road and the dam. Can ride it but the trail will widen. Second one 20ft from sailboat road going to the burg. The tip of the tree is in the tread, ride around is formed.
Also near 2 mile mark on Lake Springs one none rider. LS is in good shape.

We took care of the tree just down the trail from Sailing Club Road and the one about halfway between there and West Dam. Also took some limbs off a tree that fell right along the trail and had some limbs sticking out like punji sticks!

Hit Dam to Wildwood this morning had some really mushy areas , as brian said mostly in the areas with armor, but also some soft muddy puddles with thick deep mud. When I got to Wildwood I jumped on the road and headed back to the dam. If we can avoid the storms it should be dryed up pretty quick I would think.
