Been hard to hit the trail as much as we'd like lately - just a really busy time of the year - but got out to FATS late afternoon to get some quick miles in. We were almost ready to go when Brian W and his 10 year old daughter came off the trail into the parking lot. They had just finished a round of Brown Wave. Just really makes you feel good to see a dad (or mom) hitting the trails with the next generation of mountain bikers. And I admit I particularly like to see girls discovering the sport.......building memories for everyone, but investing in that next generation of mountain bikers!

oops, I originally posted this under the wrong link....Brian, thanks for posting these pics. You have such an awesome family. I'm so impressed with your daughter clearing the rocky/rooty section of Skinny. That section has caused me grief over the years. She'll be racing before you know it! You have some real Fat Tire Foxes there....they're gonna need a write-up under the FTF forum intro.

I'm telling you I ride those roots/rocks but I think about it every time - never crashed but "rode" down the root the left (as you are riding) - slip sliding on the front wheel .....makes me think about it every time! It was great seeing you out there Saturday and Sunday!

I slid down that rock on my back and almost went head first into that ditch. Good times...

Beautiful family Brian!
I tacoed a tire on that dang root the first time I tried to ride it. I was able to beat it on the rock straight enough to weeble/wobble the rest of the way back to the truck.
I had large scab on my left arm that I managed to scrape back off after remounting my bike and having it in the wrong gear for starting uphill. I fell against a pine tree, right on the old wound of course. Glad no one was around to hear my language.

The offer is out for anyone traing (maybe for the Snake) to have ZK as a training partner. Towing her around will make you a better climber. I felt very light last night and had a lot of spring during the climbs.
