About a month ago we started tossing out the idea of a big fall connector ride. Well, plans are set, here's the details. We're doing Ted's Big Dam Ride. Keg, Mistletoe, Bartram, Modoc, Turkey, and Wine. 80 miles. I know most aren't interested in doing the whole thing, but feel free to join in for parts of it. Below are estimated times of when I hope to start certain trails/sections. These are estimates at best...and knowing who else is doing the whole thing, I expect to be off the back. Start - Keg parking lot - 7am Mistletoe back entrance - 8am Bartram @ Washington Rd - 10am Petersburg - 11:15 Modoc - 1:00 Back entrance of Turkey - 2:30 Key Rd - 3:15 DONE @ 4pm. Hopefully ;D Please note: this is a ride at your own pace ride, not a stay-together-group-ride. Even if everything goes as planned it'll take most of the daylight hours, so there just isn't enough time to waste any waiting for everyone to regroup. If you plan on doing any of the connector sections between trails you need to know the route or keep up with someone who does, don't expect anyone to wait and show you the way. Detailed turn by turn directions can be found on the Connector Routes pages.

Looks like we're up to 6 7 for the entire route. Again, LOTS of places to join in and bail out if anyone else is interested in doing part of the route.

Huge day. At 7:23am 8 of us rolled out of the Keg Creek parking lot. Two DNFed early due to a mechanical and back injury issues. At 10:23 6 us of left the keg parking lot again and hit Bartram, which flew by. Then we hit the first long section of pavement across the dam and into SC. Ben peeled off before we got to Modoc and took a shorter route back to the top of Wine to his car. Shorter is relative, he still ended up with about 70 miles probably. Lunch at Modoc. We dropped into Modoc with 56 miles already ridden...most of us started slowing down. Except Ted, who I think sped up. Didn't see him again till we finished. Rolling towards Turkey. I started fading for real on Turkey. Lots of slow climbing. Spin baby spin. Final pit stop at Key Rd. Coke and oreos waiting on us. I was tired of eating at that point and just had a coke, hoping the sugar and caffeine would be enough to get me through. Everyone else left before I did, I took my time. A mile or so into Wine I rode up on Mark and Tom. Toms dérailleur had fallen victim to a stick, and with no way to get his chain guide off we couldn't do a SS conversion, so 77 miles into the day Tom had to bail and walk back to Key and wait for Mark to finish and come pick him up. Mark and I finished it out together. I felt better on Wine than I did on Modoc or Turkey. No cramps for me today. We rolled into the Wine Creek parking lot at 4:51. My computer showed 81.46 miles. Ted finished about half an hour before Mark and I, not sure when Brad finished, other than after Ted and before me and Mark. Great day! My computer showed 7:47 ride time...can't believe we spent ~1:45 at rest stops eating and refilling bottles.

Great ride and report.
I wonder how it would be the other direction.
Congrats to all.

With that stamina, y'all would appreciate Pisgah/Dupont a lot more than me. What a ride - good job!

Great ride and report. I wonder how it would be the other direction. Congrats to all. If you started at Wine and went to mistletoe then back to West Dam that would probably make it an even hundred. Bartram would be a good place to finish a hundred...Mistletoe would be tough with lots of mile already ridden though.
