On Sunday coming home from Tsali stopped by the Jack Rabbit Trails on Lake Chatuge near Hayesville, NC. This is a second time on these trails...... like a mini-FATS (around 15 miles total) with great views! The bathrooms were a great new addition since our last trip! The picnic area at the trailhead - Reminders that there are a few lower hanging limbs! Great signage at each trail junction! SABA beach - Covered bridge on Sneaking Creek Trail - This ultra cool mushroom was over 6 inches high! More fungi - very cool and large! Almost back at the trailhead - Not sure we earned it but Big Al's in Hiawassee was excellent - I'll post a video later to give the general feel of the trails! You'd need to combine the trip with something else (water sports on Lake Chatuge, trip to Tsali, apple festivals, etc....with only 15 miles of trail and travel time of 3 1/2 hours...... Had the wrong housing with me and this one has a scratched lens, that combined with not having my helmet tight enough makes for a herky, jerky video but you'll get the basic feel of the trail system.........they have made good use of the land available - not as tightly wound as Boyd Pond but has some nice rolling ribbons of brown, some great downhills, some uphills but nothing super steep (we were short on time and did not do the two hardest trails)..

I rode these trails while camping up at Moccassin Creek State Park last year. Great time, nice flow, and had some interesting features. Not very technical and only one tough climb. The view from the top is worh it though. I loved the cowbells. I've been thinking of a place to put one areound here... new Bartram maybe?
