rode from Washington Rd to Water Works Rd., Besides the tree between the metal bridge and 10.5 there is another one before mile 11 and one between 13 and 13.5 (just east of where the sorba bridge) Cleaned out a few muddy spots. One of them I do not know if my front wheel got stuck or a touched the breaks but over the bars.
Did also clear one low hanging branch, almost didn't get under it. Trail needs wheels.

A rather large chainsaw wielding elf was spotted on "new" Bartram today cutting up fallen trees.... And thanks to his assistant for the loaner tube!

You are welcome on the loaner tube - that would have been a long push out! Here is the "elf" all geared up and rolling - These photos are not great (bad cellphone) but they show what we were able to get to today before darkness fell. 8 mile mark on Bartram Trail - bypass trail well established: At around the 10 1/2 mile mark - tree had fallen the length of the trail instead of across the trail - crude bypass had been formed. At approximately the 11 mile mark - two trees were down very close together - I think there might be at least one more tree between the 11 mile mark and Wildwood - simply ran out of daylight tonight (we were in the wood until 6 though so the days are definitely getting longer).

Awesome job! Thank you. One of the two near marker 11 was new. When I was out there New Years day there was one between 13 and 13.5 marker also, east of the SORBA bridge.
I trail ran Lake Springs yesterday (1/15) 3 new ones down. One between the 2 and 2.5 marker the other two between the boy scout re-route and where the trail comes close to the road (just before the turn to the marina). One of those is only about 4" and floating but I didn't have my saw.

There were actually two other ones we took out on this side as well. We didn't start until after 3 and knew we wouldn't get the one at the 13 mile mark before darkness fell (I had your previous post with me just in case). We'll get the ones on the other side onto a list! Thanks for the updates.

We took out 4 trees on the Lake Springs loop, one near the end of West Dam, one heading west from the Petersburg Trailhead and 4 more heading east from Wildwood - we ran out of daylight so think there is still probably one left around the 12 mile mark. Trail was in great condition with just a few random seeps and mucky spots, rest of the trail that we saw was in great condition! Just a few shots - Lake Springs loop West end of Bartram about 13 mile mark - Same place as just above from opposite direction - Heading west out of the Petersburg Trailhead - Unfortunately there are plenty more of these pine beetle damaged pines of all sizes ready to fall - rotten but still very heavy. I do want to add one last photo - a lot of people are in a hurry riding from Lake Springs to West Dam and back and never bother to ride the Lake Springs loop. This time of year in particular, with the leaves off the trees, there are some really nice views along this portion of the lake!

Lake Springs rocks. Fun little 3 mile-ish loop. Besides riding it, it is a fairly easy trail run.

rode petersburg to west dam and lake springs loop. Awesome day for a ride. The trail has a few wet spots, and lake springs has a non rider pine down across the trail which will require some saw work. Other than that, the trail is great.

That first one looks like a nice rider. The second one...not so much.

It is nice and flat and a decent position but it looks to me like it is broken off - see the right hand side just past the hub of his wheel and if that is the case there will be a ride around in a matter of days I suspect. Better if it was a nice solid hardwood with some good length to it!

No, it continues all the way past the hub and out of the frame.
It's flat, small, looks to have a good approach, and it's on the "advanced" side of Bartram. Can't see what is on the other side, but from what I can see it looks like a rider.

Okay I have sent word out to the committee to take a look and if all are in agreement we'll get it marked to leave as a rider. In the meantime if everyone would just let it lie until we can evaluate, it would be greatly appreciated!

Last rode the Lake Springs loop from the Lake Springs entrance on Monday, 05March. At the time, there were two trees down. Apologize for not having exact mile markers, but here are there approximate positions:
1st: about 1 mile down the trail. From Lake Springs trailhead, I believe it is after the gravel road downhill. Either way, it is not far from the open gravel road.
2nd: There is a large latrine about 4-5 miles down the lake springs loop. Around 3-4 minutes before this latrine (when coming from Lake Springs trailhead), is the second down tree.

To add to xcdustin's report - a group of riders went west out of Petersburg last night and we went east........there are three trees down on each side (one of the ones on the western side will more than likely be tagged and left as a rider) but all three on the eastern side need to be removed and the plan is for at least some of them to be removed this weekend!

We started at West Dam today just after 1:30 and worked our way west to the 12.5 mile mark to finish up after 6:30. Took out 7 trees - a couple of pics are below. There is one tree that was left as a rider at just before the 12 mile marker. We have a committee made up of a variety of riders who will go out and assess a tree on an as needed basis and if their consensus is the tree can be left as a rider we will mark it and leave it. The tree has been marked temporarily with orange trail marker tape. Please stay in the middle of the trail/tree if you are riding over it. If you cannot ride over it please dismount rather than attempting to bypass the tree by creating another trail. Thank you! Tree left as a rider, marked with orange tape, tree is slightly off the ground but is solid with no bounce! Final tree at about the 12.5 mile marker!

that tree is still marked. It has a nice approach and nothing horrible going either way after. I had to dismount and walk but thats my skill level. The rider seems to be about an inch or two off the ground as well. Should it not be flat to the trail if considered a rider?
I was also surprised to see so many (5-7) wet spots on the trail yesterday. appeared as though everyone was hitting the middle of them.
