Ian and I went down to the trail this morning and did a lot of "cutback" work and such.. Trail should be in 110% condition now.. Sure would be nice if we could get the tree swing punks out of there.. Looks like someone cut their ropes and with the water low maybe that'll do the trick..

Ross, thanks for all the trail work, I got the small tree over hanging the trail on the short climb up from the river.

There is a huge dead tree that fell in the two way section last night. It's laying long ways in the trail... It's not long but it is very large in diameter... The good news is that it is rotten and broke into several pieces but it will still need a chain saw to get it out. Attachments:

If the weather holds, Julie and I should be able to take care of it after work today. Will post later if I get it out.

By the time Julie and I got there, someone had removed the tree pieces from the trail. Thanks
Julie and I trimmed the large piece of log away from the edge of the trail, lopped a few branches, and removed the tree hanging over the trail just past the 2-way going CW. I was told I almost hit it during the 1st time trial.
If we don't get any more rain, the trail should be good to go for the Wednesday ride and the time trials on Friday.

There is a HUGE tree blocking the path today. I big white tree that makes it impossible to pass. I entered from the Eisenhower Park entrance and took the odd days trail. It's about 1/2 3/4 mile down the path. There is no way around and I popped my rear tire trying. Huge thorny vines and extreme brush.

I removed the large tree yesterday after work. All we have to do now is repair all the holes and washes Sunday morning during the work party starting at 9:00. Bring your tools and help out.

I was a little bit bored today so I went to the Canal Trail with my chainsaw and clippers. The trail was in a lot better shape than I had imagined. I thought for sure there would be lots of trees and limbs down after the wind we had the other night. I removed the tree we found down on the Wednesday night ride and the tree and the south end of the trail that has been getting lower and lower finally got low enough that it was hard to ride under so I took it out also. The root where you drop in to go down by the river had become exposed so I went ahead and cut it, I also did some clipping and lopping along the trail. I took out the limb and clutter on razors edge. It is now rideable but, it really needs trimming. I also cleaned a lot of debrie off the steps at the trail head. The only thing I didn't tackle today was the muddy spot that will not drain and some of the sandy spots. We will take care of that during the work party on the 13th of January.
