Went for a quick ride today, hoping to get some pretty leaf pictures. Wasn't too disappointed First creek crossing: The Rock: My favorite part: Someone's weekend getaway?? Trail was in great shape, thanks to those who rode the other day!

Great photos!!! Where is that house? If there are any hikers reading this, Modoc is one of the best hiking trails around the area - just 30 minutes from Evans - straight up 28 - turn right onto 23 and the parking lot is on the left just before the bridge. Once you are on the trail it is 6 miles to the turn around point but since it is an in out trail hike as long as you want. There are three creek crossings - you can avoid getting your feet wet. Just don't cross the bridge to the left that you will see just after a switchback - continue on straight. There are also great vantage points high above Steven's Creek. Only passing this along because Modoc doesn't get all the bike traffic that FATS does and for hiking Modoc is much more scenic.

I first noticed the house/cabin just past the 2.5 mile marker, wouldn't have spotted it if there were more leaves on the trees. If headed away from the trailhead, it's to the right, on the other side of the creek, and up high on the side of a hill. Looks like it's maintained fairly well from what I could see, and it appeared that there was a staircase/walkway leading down to the creek. Any ideas who owns/uses this and what it's used for? Modoc is definitely one of my favorite trails because it is so scenic. Need to bring the puppy out here for a hike

Nice pictures.
I have seen that house before, and yes it does get used. Don't know by whom, but we have heard voices and dogs over there the last couple of years. Like you said, nice place to get away from it all!
