Man, what a beautiful day to ride! Took the camera with me and got a few pics of the Baker's Dozen race course. Looking forward to next weekend, it's going to be fun! Starting out on section 2. Swooping through the switchback A few more trees down this morning, we got them all off. TedS doing some climbing. Zooming along! Nice bench cut singletrack You do not want to miss the turn on Red Hill. I'll tape this off good for the race. Climbing towards the start/finish area. A few switchbacks on the climb. MASSIVE ROCK GARDEN! Nah, not really. Tom bombs the stairs TedS might be fast, but he's terrified of stairs This area will be filled with racers next Saturday! I'm camping here Friday night. Did I mention that it was a beautiful day?

Nice pics, I especially like the rock garden pic. Just curious, where do the different sections start/stop?

I added section numbers to the Google map. Hopefully it is helpful.

I figured that's how the sections were numbered, but sometimes it's better not to assume. Thanks!

I've never ridden this trail before and will be going solo this weekend.... It looks like most of the single track is covered with pine straw. Is that the case?

I don't know that I'd say most. Some is pinestraw, some is leaves, some is bare hardpacked dirt, and there's a little sand here and there. There's a little of everything.

Just a note about that pinestraw, typically during the fall of the year in our area the new pinestraw falls and is very slick until the needles get roughed up. I have not noticed this new slick coating of pinestraw on any of our trails that I've ridden this fall but I am not riding them at quite the mach speed some of the riders are so maybe someone else will weigh in??

It is coming down already, but hasn't come down too heavily yet. But, after all the rain the last few days, there's probably more down. Once a few laps are put in on Saturday by the entire field the trail will get faster I'm predicting.

Hey, are you guys going to mark those bridges pretty good? I just know from experience, if someone is hauling a** and isn't familiar with those bridges, they could end up in a ditch or creek.. Just a thought safety wise..

Just a thought safety wise.. There's only so much you can do to mark bridges. I'll put some tape up at that first one, but beyond that people just need to pay attention.

I agree with dgaddis1 on the bridges. We rode last night and the first bridge will sneak up on you, especially at night. I was looking for it on my 2nd lap and almost missed it. The rest should be OK.

Thanks for the pine straw feedback... I've been out to FATS are few times during the Fall and remember the straw making the trails quite slick. A few of my buddies "ate it" pretty hard so heads up on the high speed off-cambers or switch-backs.
