We won't know until things dry up and riders are back on the trail but if our back yard is any indication we'll have some work to do on the trails.
We have 3 trees or significant parts of trees down in our yard. The local news channel reported that storm brought 60 mph winds in parts of the viewing area.
If you are out this weekend please post an update under the trail - all focus for the next two weeks will be on the Baker's Dozen but afterward work can be scheduled if things don't end up cleared in mini work parties.

I pulled up outside AJBW just as the winds came thru downtown. I parked and everything was cool. By the time I got my phone in my pocket and work badge off the car was shaking from the wind, something that's never happened before (it's a little Civic, not a big SUV!). I was scared to get out of the car! There was dust, sand, leaves, trash, boxes, etc flying around all over the place, I thought a tornado might be about to touch down or something. It only did that for a minute or so, but it was a crazy minute!

From my office in the Wells Fargo building I could see it coming so went down to move my car closer to the building, it was okay for the trip out to get my car but when I got out of my car to return to the office, I had the same thing going on - very intense, swirly wind action.....the wind was whipping my skirt up around my ears and trash and leaves were blowing really hard and swirling around, I too honestly thought a tornado was approaching so must have been about the same time you were downtown. It actually came through very quickly, within a half an hour it was clear again. But I suspect we'll have a bit of a cleanup on aisle 9 situation. I understand power is still out in some parts of the city.

Im planning on taking my neighbor out for a ride this afternoon, maybe giving Hickory Knob, Modoc or Lick Fork a try....hopefully the trails aren't too wet and we can get a decent report on one of those trails. I talked to a couple of Georgia Power guys while at work yesterday and they said that Columbia County got the worst of it as far as wind damage in the CSRA goes, especially in the Grovetown/Harlem/Appling area, and I know Martinez had some strong winds as well. Apparently several of the 100' transmission towers were knocked over between G-town and Harlem. Hopefully the storm lessened in intensity before it crossed the river.....
