FATS 50K Trail Run The FATS 50K Trail Run will be held Sunday, October 2nd, starting at 8 AM. The course the runners will be covering is as follows: Great Wall Loop CCW, Deep Step CCW, long side of Skinny Loop CCW, then Brown Wave CW, the rest of the Skinny Loop and last, repeat Great Wall CW. In the past 3 years, the runners have shared the trails with mountain bikers, had no problems and we don't anticipate any problems this year. Please respect all trail users. Although this posting is primarily meant to advise bikers of the event for safety reasons.........if there are people interested in the event itself here is the website information: ultrasontrails.com/fats50k.html__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The primary impact of this event is parking - the runners will fill the parking lot at the South Trailhead by sunrise.
If you see any runners on the long connector trail from Deep Step to the upper trails, they are lost. Please turn them around.
Thanks.

Thanks for your support and sharing these awesome trails. I often do my long runs at FATS in getting ready for other ultra-races, and enjoy my time on the trails. When I post pics of FATS on my blog, I get awesome comments from endurance athletes around the world about how awesome the trails look (Thanks to you).
Anyone interested in helping with the race (Aid stations) is most welcome.

Today's run went great. Thanks to all the riders who helped, especially John Taylor and Paul.
I will clean up the course markers next weekend, along with the water drop at the halfway point on Great Wall.

Lee,
It was great seeing you today after 21 years. I was trying to recover your email address from the forum but I haven't been successful so far. How about friending me on facebook (Gary W Edwards).

Thanks again riders for your support and help with the annual FATS 50K. All the ultra-runners I ran with had nothing but positive comments about the awesome trails and friendly people. Here is an Email sent from a runner to the RD about her experience:
"Terri, thank you so much for an awesome race. All the volunteers were absolutely fantastic. They took such good care of me while I was out on the trail, I didn’t want for a thing. The mountain bikers on the trail were so polite in giving trail access, and one biker even stopped to ask me if I needed water. I’ve never seen such polite bikers who were willing to share their trail. Almost every time I came across a biker they would stop and hang onto a tree to let me pass first. That is unheard of on the trails up here where I live!
I am a native South Carolinian, and I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing me some of the wonderful natural areas our state has to offer. These are places I’ve never seen before and never knew we even had here in our state. I’m glad to get to know these areas. The FATS trails are really awesome and are some of the most well-maintained trail I’ve ever run.
I’m looking forward to next year! Thanks again for all your hard work!"
