I certainly can't speak for everyone but what a great Baker's Dozen this year the weather was perfect (well it could have been about 10 degrees cooler), the trail was in terrific condition, the people were friendly and pumped, the volunteers were terrific, and as usual Paul Farrow did an extraordinary job putting this event on - Thanks Paul!
The one thing I want to know if any of you have done any research is about the leg cramping - I have only experienced it one time before and that was on a Centruy road ride, never mountain biking - it really caught me totally off guard - just glad I could ignore it and keep going without much hindrance. Is it preventable? I heard from a lot of riders who said they experienced cramping and Daniel said he heard it from several people as well so it wasn't just me. Any ideas?

A great day to be on a bicycle! What a great job that Paul and a great crew of volunteers did. Thanks a lot. I thought the event was about the perfect size - about 70 riders with 28 solo riders.
I had no cramps yesterday. I always get super hydrated for events like this and I forced myself to drink each lap. I rode a cautious pace with MB for about 12 laps - never really "got into my legs". I think being on a team makes each lap a worker - pushing as hard as you can go. Ya always hear hydration and potassium to stave off the cramps.
I hope there is one again next year. If so, we may have to limit the field to 100 or we may be overrun with riders.
Congrats to the winners. 19 solo laps is awesome. Who won the 4 person class?

Hats off to Paul and everyone else involved in putting on an awesome race. Races like these that are held in our own backyard seem to promote more comradarie amongst the local riders as well as out of towners. Excellent weekend for a race! You need to check out this months edition of National Geographic Adventure. There is a small write up entitled, "Pedaling the Piedmont" on page 27 that talks about a little known area north of Augusta, Ga. that has biking trails that rival any in the southeast. Check it out!

Greetings all, I am speaking on behalf of my 4 person team that came in second place. We had a great time at this years BD. The weather was perfect and it cooled off quickly after the sun went down. Everyone's night laps seemed to have sped up. For me, this was my first BD and hopefully not my last. Kudos to Paul, Angela, Daniel, etc.. and all the volunteers who made this happen. As for cramping, I started cramping about halfway through my first lap. One of my team members told me to drink alot of water(4 bottles), which I did and the cramps immediately went away and did not return. A team from Aiken won the first place 4 man category. What an exciting finish in the solo category. I am definitely looking forward to next year. See you all out there on the trails.--- Matt

Robert- I'd like to see the National Geographic article you spoke of. Congrats to Treybo on winning the Halestorm Frame. Thanks to Russell for donating it! I may have said it before - congrats to Ben Poss for laying down 19 solo laps! 152 miles is nuts! Some observations from a first timer solo: Pace, pace, pace. It's all the pace. I staved off knee and muscular pain all day by riding a sane pace (set my Michael Burton). For me, this years solo race was easier than last years 2-man race. It's all about the pace, effort and heart rate. I kept all three in check all day this year and it paid off. I had fun and rode my bike for the better part of 13 hours. I'll be back next year. But first, it's game on for a 24 Hour solo race.

You may include me in the new member catagory. The race was only my second ever so you can imagine how stoked I was to complete my first off-road century. My posterier took a hellacious beating but that pales in comparison to the elation I felt as I passed the finish line at 10:58. Words cannot describe the appreciation I have to all those who made the experience possible for me. Thank You!!!!! Since I am new to the Augusta/Aiken area I would love to get in contact with others who are as passionate about riding as I am. Please e-mail me!! Thanks, Scott

Thanks so much! Training and riding with my fellow team mates over these weeks has been an amazing experience. We enjoyed it so much we plan to continue to ride together and might even slip away for a "ladies only" outing to the mountain trails sometime. My three team mates had so much heart and determination that they were an inspiration and I would ride with them anytime, anywhere. Quite frankly it helped us a lot training with you and some of your team mates on the canal trail prior to the event - we enjoyed all the "friendly" banter and competition......only way it could have been any better is if we had beat you at HC.......... See you on the trails!

Thanks for posting the results Paul. Seenvic was getting pretty pushy wasn't he? I'm glad to announce that after 12+ years of racing, I not only beat P. Younce but TJ as well. I guess it shows that those thouroughbreads are quick out of the gate but short on stamina. Put 'em out to stud I say.

OK. Since we were having trouble getting the detailed results on the forum and web page, I posted them on my site: www.suz.org. The pictures and videos will be added here in the near future (depends upon how ambitious I am tonight . No complaining about the site - I did it as a favor!
