The link has been working for me since it was put up a couple weeks ago. It worked for me today.
If you're torn between this and Cohutta, then do the Cohutta. I only have 4 definite volunteers (two maybes) signed up right now to fix a 30' bridge. Once again, lots more excuses than volunteers... A lot of us do a lot of volunteer work with only two to four people. This is not one of those that can be accomplished with just me and a couple.
No bridge = No Baker's Dozen

I checked out every link listed on the Baker's Dozen page, and I have no problems opening any of them. The links work from home and from work, and they are 2 different browsers. Anyone else having problems?

Just a heads up: Paid registrations have reached about halfway to our 150 rider max, and we are still a couple months away from race day. If you have been holding out, you may want to consider sending your stuff in.

FULL!!! Unreal! With almost a month to go! We got off to a late start this year with with entries for the BD. The envelopes were slow getting to the house. I didn't think we were going to make a hundred. The the trickle turned to a steady rain, then to a downpour, and then this past two weeks we got flooded with letters (and Active.com). Thanks to every single person that signed up. As an organization we depend upon fund raising such as this. Your entry fees keep us going. Wait until you see the trailer that we have been able to purchase with the help of previous BDs! Michael

Started gathering up jerseys and shorts. Washed camelbak (had a full bottle of pro-link open up and spill in the big compartment - nice), charged lights (damn, my new HID bulb don't work), drinking water.
Yeah, I'm getting ready.
Crazy thing ....I haven't ridden Horn Creek Trail since last years BD.

I am going down this afternoon to pre-ride the course. Should be there around 5ish depending on if I get lost driving down from Greenwood.

I seriously hope that I am completely wrong here, but I work in Edgefield, maybe 8 miles as the crow flies from Lick Fork/Horn Creek, and the smoke is billowing up really thick, really high from that direction. Some kind of big burn in that area. I put a call in to a couple of Forest Rangers and haven't gotten a return call...
Once again, I hope I am wrong, but this doesn't look good....I will head that way after work at 3:30pm.
Michael
Update: Just got off the phone with one of the rangers, and he assures me that the smoke is nowhere near the campground. I will see if I can get an update after work...

I have been at Lick Fork during a burn. Years ago, me and a friend headed into section 4 thinking it was no big deal. It really wasn't a big deal. At no time was my life in danger or was I in any danger at all. But about half way thru section 4, we both realized that we needed a lung full of oxygen. It wasn't that smokey, but over time it got to us. We rode another lap and skipped section 4.
I am wondering just where the buring is in relation to the entire trail. Not just the trailhead.

from the usfs via email.
about a third of the trail will go through burn. They burned today, and that should be all, from what I understand anyway. The portion of the trail that was burned over was, east and north of FS road 634 the NE corner of the trail.

Section 2 got burned. It sucks.
Maybe we will get some of the rain they are threatening for tonight. Perhaps between now and Saturday morning it will die odwn...

I rode last night, and it looked to be a lot of the trail (on fire)......It did rain, I don't know how much though. I left around 9pm. Also, no more "open" camp sites. The camp host was very helpfull.
