I'm still in. I can shuttle if needed, I can carry four other people besides myself, but it'll be a bit crowded (just got a new car, civic si sedan, it seats 5, but not a ton of room in the back).
I'll need a ride back to my car at the end of the ride if I do shuttle. I can also do the food drops.

I'm in and I'll talk to holly RE: shuttling and her wonderful food drop (if she's needed)? I don't want to step on any toes for those that are already planning food drops, etc. Sorry I wont be able to make the meeting tonight I'm sure it will be quite informative. Perhaps you could post the key points for those of us that cant make it?

Details will be posted here.
Food. I don't plan to provide any food or drinks. I just plan to move around the food/drinks that riders bring themselves.
I'll prolly throw some water together, but that's it.
I won't stop others from providing food, though.

Seenvic, If you need help on Sat the 26th for whatever reason I will make myself available. As far as food goes my wife always makes enough that could feed the entire Chad (African Country) Army.

The ride has been shortened to 50ish miles. A point to point with a car shuttle before the ride starts. Meet at Lick Fork before 9AM, Jan 27. Unload your bike, and leave it at Lick Fork. Unload your food/drinks into the food car. There will be one food drop. At 9:15AM, the food car leaves with the food you brought. We don't supply any food. At 9:30AM, a caravan of cars will leave Lick Fork and drive to Modoc. It's only about 10-12 miles away. One person per car. Park the cars at Modoc, and we will shuttle you back to Lick Fork. www.sorbacsra.org/The ride should be alot of fun on some old trails and raise a little money for some new trails. The ride is free, but we'd like a minimum $25 donation to be used towards the FATS Phase Three Grant matching. Those who donate will receive a nice map, the shuttle ride and food drop of the food/drinks you bring. The course will be marked and is 24 miles singletrack, 11 miles paved and 15 miles gravel. The route covers Horn Creek, Wine Creek, Turkey Creek and Modoc. I'd like to see about 20 peope do this. That will be manageable. From the word I am getting, there are already 20 people interested. If you are in, let me know via this thread. I am curious how many people are in for this. We can handle more, but need to be prepared - so please let us know if you plan to ride. We need some volunteer shuttle drivers. It's easy. Just show up at Modoc at about 9:30ish and wait for the cars to show up from Lick Fork. Then load your car w/ riders and drive to Lick Fork. And that's all you do. Let us know if you can ride, shuttle drive, or both.

Rode the route today. Almost dead on 49 miles. HC has two non-riders in section 4. Other than that, perfection. No mud. Well, let me go ahead and say it now, in all caps - ALL THE OLD-SCHOOL, ESTABLISHED TRAILS ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION. IF YOU RODE FATS TODAY, SHAME ON YOU. IF YOU DIDN'T RIDE BECAUSE "OH WOE IS ME, FATS IS CLOSED", THEN WELL, IT SUCKS TO BE YOU. HC rocked, Wine was perfection, Turkey was bone dry, and Modoc, although it hurt me badly after 40 miles, was also bone dry. A couple non-riders on Modoc. - I have said it before on these forums: If we have a "normal" rainfall, within 24-48 hours all the older established trails are rideable. Stay the heck off FATS and go ride some roots! Looking forward to January 27. Michael

Awesome that you guys went and rode that this weekend.
Just last weekend when we finished the 27 mile ride from Wine to Modoc both of you said there was no way you could do the longer version on the 27th. Then you go out an do it on the very next weekend.
Glad to hear you like this style of riding. Singletrack is great, but mxing up the surface makes for a great ride, I think.
You are right on about the trails too. The old school trails need wheels badly. Folks that only ride FATS are missing out on some fine mountain biking....and fugging up the FATS as they do it when it's wet.

Well Bill if I am going to be in charge of hauling folks food around I'm simply going to have to bake some cookies or something to go with their sandwiches or whatever they have brought for lunch!

What's the scoop on camping? I think Lick Fork is closed for the winter. How about Hamilton Branch? Anything closer?

If I am not mistaken, half of Modoc is open for camping. The SO and I stayed there in October and we inquired then about winter camping. The host told us then that there would not be a campground host on-site (and you can't reserve online), but some sites would remain open. Pull up, fill out an envelope, go find a spot.
As far as parking, I think we ought to line up the vehicles along the metal-gated/locked entrance of HC. Kinda stage there. After the shuttle runs are over, we start the ride by going the 100 yards of pavement/100 yards of gravel, hang a left onto section 2, ride a lap, then head straight out toward 230...

Add one more to the list of riders: Kris F. - a friend of mine. He says he's in.
Bill - you still need me to shuttle? I can if needed...I can fit one more person up front, and three small ones in the back.
