rode from Key Road this morning (4/4) about 4 non-riders to the washed out bridge/gulley climb. Which is very slick when wet. shortly after this (within 200 ft) I came up to a tree top across the trail. Could not get thru without a lot of bushwacking or climbing.

Evidence of flooding on trail below washed out bridge?
That you made to washed out bridge is prolly a good sign.
I'd love to move that trail away from the creek, but USFS isn't down with that for the reason of a seasonal flood.
In time, the trail will be rerouted around the bridge that is out. How long that reroute is to be is yet to be determined.
Thanks for the update on Wine.

The trail was very damp (it seems like it 's always is) but I did not see signs of a high water mark at all. Lots of branches, leaves but that is it.

I rode Wine plus Turkey/Modoc connector (Creampuff? route). All the trails were in amazingly good condition for this time of year, other than the trees on Wine Brian mentioned. No evidence of flooding on Wine. As has been said by others recently, if you're not riding these trails you're missing out. Give FATS a rest.

Yeah I was out there today too. started from 283 about 9am. Rode Turkey as well. A few trees down but overall Turkey was in great shape. Plenty of water in that first creek on wine starting from 283, good fun.

Plenty of water in that first creek on wine starting from 283, good fun. That brings back fond memories - one late fall day a group of us were riding Wine and headed back from 283............the day was struggling to get to 60 but it was perfect for riding...... a couple of people successfully crossed the bloated stream and it was my turn. I was used to crossing it when it had very little water but with all that excess water rushing through I did not see the submerged rock. I hit it hard and endoed.........as everyone who has ever ridden that crossing knows, it is a good thing all that water was there or I would have face planted into the rocks, instead I was totally submerged. A friend was kind enough to pull a shell out of his backpack - unfortunately it had probably been in there for years and totally reeked but I was very cold and happy to have it. Riding back I was in and out of the saddle repeatedly and since my chamois also got totally soaked, it was like riding with a totally saturated Depends on all the way back.

The trees on Wine Creek have been cleared (at least the ones I knew about). The trail is still in need of mowing/trimming from Key road to about the "big dip". I did leave a log stack in the trail. If anyone thinks it is unsafe, feel free to remove it.

Rode Wine (& Turkey) today. There are 3 or 4 trees down on the upper section that will need to be cut out. Tread is good & firm.

Hiked the upper section with the family today and cut out the remaining trees. All clear now. You will still get a face full of slappers in the middle section though.

We enjoy riding Turkey and Wine as a figure 8 (mixing trails and pavel), and it sounds like both are ready! MD
