Has anyone been out to Turkey lately? After the burn?
Thinking of riding the full connector on Saturday, Or maybe just park at Key and do Turkey- wine- turkey.
Thought it might be a good time ride out there before the grass gets high and the spiders get thick.

Turkey is open- I talked to Glen K. at the FS. The only part that was burned was the first mile. Last night, David K lost his derailleur to a stick again (on his old/spare bike). Guess I'm the jinx here. The trail is in pretty good shape, though there are places that could use a DR now. Some parts of the trail are covered in fluffed-up leaves from where the turkey (or deer?) had some kind of party. You hunters can tell me what that's all about.

If it's just the leaves turned up it's turkeys. If there's any signs of digging in the dirt, it's pigs. Lots of wild hogs in the area around Long Cane Creek up here, not sure about the Turkey Creek area.

Don't armadillos forage in the leaf litter? Not really familiar with that species. I also know bears do that in the fall in search of fallen nuts. Wrong season for Yogi though.

Posed this question to those I work with, and the consensus was turkey. YC and I see this all the time, on all the trails around here that aren't beat down with mtb traffic. The turkey are looking and foraging for bugs and the like that tend to hide under leaves and foliage. They will be flicking stuff around... MD
