Rode the trail with friends. It was their first time at HKSP. Rode both the Lakeview Loop (CW and CCW) and Turkey Ridge. They had a blast.
Outstanding tread condition. Couple of non-riders down across the trail. We were able to clear several by hand. Will try to get out there and get it all cleared for the Explore the Trail ride.

Trail was in great shape this weekend. Couple of trees down. Riders for some, non-riders for others. We cleared a bit of debris, but overall the trail was sweet.

Been out to this trail several times already this year, including yesterday ( 4/17 ). The last month or so has not been kind. There are about a dozen trees down, on both the lake loop, and a few down on turkey as well. It seems there are at least 3 or 4 trees down within the last 3 weeks or so on lakeview.
I tried to tidy up as much as possible, but a chainsaw is badly needed.

Thanks for the info. We rode it a couple weeks ago and there were only a couple of riders down then. We will be there for Memorial Day and will clear it then, if not before.
I hope you enjoyed riding a great trail, and also letting us know that it needs some grooming. Got it covered! Gonna be a great summer.

Definately LOVE riding that trail! Especially in the warmer months when I can stop and cool off in the lake. I "discovered" it early last year and I've been going back ever since. That's why I could tell it was in need of a little TLC.
Thanks for all your hard work, it will be a great summer indeed!

Trail's clear. Well, at least the Lake Loop and Turkey Ridge. Didn't touch Beaver Run. Approximately a dozen cleared. Left a few obvious riders. After, we downed some gels and headed out for some "non B.O.B." riding. Sure do feel fast after dropping that cinder block off at the RV! MD

Trail is in great shape. Cleared one tree off. Other than that, it was perfection.

4 trees down, one within 200 ft of the barn (cw) the other three are out on the first two, maybe three, points. Believe all before the 3 mile mark. Removed some debris. (10/7 am) I tried to ride Turkey Ridge (?) but lost the trail within 400 ft of crossing the road. Lots of pine straw and leaves down. Did not see any blazes.
This was my second time up there. I really need to ride it more. IMO the best laid out trail in the CSRA and most scenic.
Big thanks to Yeti Chic and her side kick MD for the work they do up there!

We are heading there in a couple of hours. If I understand, you rode the trail CW, so all the trees are down within 3 miles of the barn, riding CW? I don't really want to take the B.O.B. unless I have to. Can they be cut out with a large handsaw, or is a chainsaw needed? Turkey Ridge: You lost it before you actually entered it! I pretty much can guarantee you that I know where you lost the trail. Basically, you need to cross the road, go straight a couple of hundred yards, then make a hard right and drop down. That would have dropped you onto the actual loop (you can go right or left at that point). The lollipop from the road getting you to the loop has fooled many riders, but once you find the actual loop, you would love it.

You will need a chain saw on two of them for sure. One of those is the one that is 200ft into the trail. If you have your boat the other 3 are very close to the water. and yes rode cw and noticed a 3 mile marker after the last one.

first time on this trail, loved it! i especially liked the groups of trees that were close to the trail that i head to thread my bike through as well as the rock features. i hope to make this a somewhat regular trip Lakeview Loop: 1 or 2 trees down about halfway through the loop, may be riders for some, definitely not for me. treat was great except for 3-4 damp spots...no standing water but tires were definitely leaving tread marks. the red clay portion towards the end (CW) also had tread marks along with deer tracks Turkey Ridge: i initially missed the sharp right hand turn headed down to the actual loop and went straight instead as it looked like the trail continued straight, but quickly found the main trail anyways. this trail appears to get little traffic, which is a shame as it was a pretty fun and quick trail. lots of small limbs/sticks down along with several non-riders.

I cut 6 trees on the Lakeview loop and 8 on Turkey Ridge this morning. Luke lost his bear bell somewhere in the 2-3 mile area. I piled some limbs at the first, important, hard right turn on TR, trying to block the (wrong) track that goes straight. TR still needs some love. SO and I lopped the big loop last week when we took the dogs for a hike.

We planned on getting that done a couple of weeks ago, but it poured rain on our last day camping and we didn't get to it. MD
