My mountain bike has Avid Jiuicy hydraulic brakes and I would like to learn how to install new pads. My guess is it is a fairly simple operation but I'd like to know what it involves before giving it a try. Anyone out there care to share instructions with me? Or perhaps someone knows of a website the covers the subject.
Or is this something best left to a bike shop?
Thanks and happy trails.

The pads are not difficult at all to replace. They (the calipers) are also pretty difficult to actually damage, as long as you DO NOT use a screwdriver to push the pistons back in! Use a plastic tire iron for that job, or my favorite is a 10mm closed end wrench.
Anyway, type avid juicy pad replacement into the Google search window and you will get a ton of hits. Read several. Read more. There's lot of tips and hints on removing the old pads, snapping the new pads in, lining up the tabs, etc.
Hint number one: Carefully note the orientation of the washers as you take it off the bike.
Hint number two: When you get the old pads out, use some alcohol and a tiny brush to thoroughly clean the caliper of all brake dust.
Hint number three: If, after tons of reading and looking at the calipers on your bike with no warm fuzzies, visit a bike shop. Buy the pads from them and ask them to show you how to install'em. We have several bike shop mechanics on these forums that would be more than happy to help you.
