Just curious if there is regular scheduled maintenance day on the pump track? I was out there last week and it seems a little weather beaten. (mostly just the middle jumps) If there is a time please me know, "if I ride it I should help keep it up" If it's kind of a less formal fix it if your there just let me know I throw a rake in the car next time I'm out there. I really dig the track though it's a blast !!!!!

jp....if you know how to maintain it, have at it.
If you don't know, please don't trial and error it.
I don't know how to maintain it. I was wondering that last time I was there.

I was down there Tuesday and it's actually ok. The jumps have been beat down, but they're still good. If anything the leaves could use blowing/raking off. Lots of sand has been washed off of the track and needs to be put back, but that involves proper procedure. If you know what you're doing then go ahead and repair the jumps. If not and if you do then end up messing things up...then that's no bueno. You may want to contact Drew at AJBW'S. 706-724-bike. He's got great knowledge and also contacts of people who do. I usually go down once every week or two and have been able to ride each time. When I go next week I'll take a rake and remove the leaves. thanks for riding it. It seems the "New" has worn off since the summit ended. This time of year is really the best time to ride IMHO.

I rode it Sunday and the main outer loop was in good shape. If you take any of the inner routes there is some sand to watch out for. It could use a leaf blower. Next time I'll bring one out.

Ok.... thanks for the info. I am pretty up to speed on how to face jumps and rake out the turns, etc........ Been involved with maintaining the two Columbia BMX tracks for years. Unfortunatley, the sand has washed out of the clay leaving some pretty unusable dirt around the track. I see several loads of good clay off to the left in that field, is that able to be used for the track? Really only one way to shape it up is with new dirt. Just asking>>>> not trying to step on any toes but I would like to help. easier to keep it up a little at a time rather than having to rebuild from ground up

Sounds great. You really need to talk to Drew though. He's the unofficial self designated keeper of the track. However, you may want to get an official answer from a SORBA officer. Those are the toes that matter the most.

Hey JP...Thanks for the offer on helping out at the Pumptrack. Now that we've gotten some rain I'd love to get out there and tune some stuff up (maybe even rebuild some things we've been brainstorming on if it's wet enough). I'm going to try and get out there tomorrow after work if you're interested. Just to clarify, you are talking about the pump track in North Augusta right? Or are you talking about the dirt jumps at the Augusta BMX Track? I'm not sure which loads of clay you're referring to. I know there's some extra dirt sitting around at the BMX track, but that's the track dirt.
Shoot me an email or give me a call if you want to get together.
Thanks again.

Drew, Yes, I can make it out there just about any weekend but I'm up in lexington, SC so it is sometimes tuff to make it during the week. Yes... I'm talking about the pump track at Riverview Park. The dirt is way off to the left in the boat and trailor overflow parking lot to the left of the soccer fields all the way at the end of the lot near the woods.... looks like good old red clay. I am familer with the Augusta bmx track dirt pumps though good stuff.... I'll give you a call tomorow
