I love the old bartram section and have gotten into riding it pretty frequently. (several times a month)
I tried to put in a good pace on my last ride to see how fast i could ride from Petersburg Parking lot to West Dam Parking lot and back. Did it in 80 minutes flat. I think this is a good run!
Try it next time you go, this trail is sooo fun to go fast on

Is 80 minutes really a good time? I rode Bartram for the first time today. Figured it would be cooler with the breeze off of the lake.

I would say the young bucks and the older ones in shape will knock it out in 1 hour + or -. Me? I would be lucky to do it in Neal's time...

How far is that again? Around 12 miles or so? 80 mins isn't slow, but I'd bet there's some folks that could do it well under an hour.

If we're not adding in the loop, then an hour is not difficult. You'll be sweating, but heck I do that in the winter.

Thanks all. I did it in 63 minutes. Well. I rode out to the 8 mile marker and back in 80 minutes, but the section from West Dam to Petersburg I did in 32 there, and 31 back. Just making sure I was not superhuman or something ;D

Nitro and I rode from West Dam to Keg Creek and back today. We didn't ride Keg, or the Lake springs loop, just the full Bartram. 37 miles, 3hrs 28mins was my ride time. Nitro's was faster....he was ahead of me, even before I clipped the tree. And after the tree, I went a little slower lol.

Did 61 minutes last week, forget the day. All I remember is the storm coming in, hearing a crack and seeing a big tree fall in the open field area, and pedaling my ass as fast as I could back to West Dam in the worst rain I have ever ridden in as lightning preceded the boom by less than 2 seconds.

I rode bartram yesterday , petersburg trail and lake springs trail. there are 1 or 2 new trees down on bartram. i will dispatch the ninjas to remove them.
The horseflies yesterday were unbearable- i bet i got stung/bit at least 50 times in one hour. I had to try and go fast just to outrun them, but the minute i stopped i just got swamred again-

You can't outrun them. They'll draft you for miles.
The bite doesn't hurt that bad...it's the three or four days of itching that sucks.

Saturday: - 30:20 starting from the Petersburg trail head. The rain hammered us from mile 4 to the West Dam. Turned around. - 33:05 back. Torrential downpour the entire way back. The trail was under water in 30 and 40 foot sections. -- Just an FYI. - I may be able to knock five minutes off, on a good day, but that's about it. MD P.S. YetiChick was on my azz the whole way. She has stepped the game up

1 hour 57 minutes 23 seconds, the 'Burg to Lake Springs to West Dam, back via Lake Springs, liked it so much did the loop for a third time and back to the 'Burg. 22.3 miles. Just a fun ride.
Just my opinion but the best section of Bartram is the Lake Springs Loop. Since the reroute it seems it is getting wheels on it. Before it might be clear it might be a jungle.

Just my opinion but the best section of Bartram is the Lake Springs Loop. +1 Love that section! I was hoping when they built the new part that it would be more like the LS loop. Not that I don't like the new section, it's just well, different.

Haby and I rode West dam, lake springs to Petersburg and back on Saturday we did right around 45 mins in each direction, wasn't running the stop watch just looking at the start finish time. We stopped at Petersburg for a bit and stretched and used the bathroom. Not sure how fast we could cover the tail out and back nonstop w/the clock running. I may try it out Tomorrow.

Did west dam to Peters burg, no lake springs , and back in 55 min 17 sec. The pine straw and leaves are making it a little slippery, slidey in the turns, really fun on the bermed turns, can just slide the rear through the turn and hit traction on the berm : )

Did west dam to Peters burg, no lake springs , and back in 55 min 17 sec. That's a good time for a day like today. The dust has settled a bit, but like you said, the leaves and pine straw are covering the ground. Were you even perspiring when the ride was over? OK, now for the real question: Did you wear your orange? MD
