My son and I went on the Augusta Canal single track tonight and could not navigate the entrie course as per the trail map on the SORBA website. We rode it clock wise (odd day) and wound up back at the railroad tracks near lake olmstead. Where did we make the wrong turn?

When you came out at the "lake" (it is a borrow pit for the dirt used in the construction of Riverwatch); you turned left (CCW) instead of continuing right (CW).

Yep I think mark is correct. You went out the southern entrance.

According to the trail map you should be able to go around the borrow pits and under or along side riverwatch parkway. I guess I haven't ridden down there enough. The last time I rode there I started going clockwise and ended up doing a figure eight.

I guess I'm too new to this forum.....What does +1 mean?
Do all of the other comments on the trail directions mean that the map is not accurate?
Thanks for all of the comments I just need some clarity.

+1 = high five, ditto, what he said and then some, etc. The map is accurate, but you can get off track with your intuition. If you are riding CW you intuitively want to take every left fork in the road and that will lead you astray since there are a couple of places that have paths that go off the main trail. At about the halfway point you come to a tee that is the connector over to the south entrance. Your brain says stay left there to go CW when you should go right to continue the loop.

I do not ride the canal that often. When I do I have to ride down and check the sign to make sure I am going the correct direction. The only time I rode the wrong way (and was corrected) was when I entered the southern end. A sign there would be very helpful.
By the way which day is cw/ccw?
