My family will be camping at Petersburg this weekend. Gonna ride Bartram and do some kayaking. We should be plenty tired by the time we head home Sunday.
I hope to ride the new section or at least part of it.
Anyone else be there?

Site 48 last weekend. Site 47 this weekend. HKSP the following. Then back at Petersburg (44). There's always several of us SORBA/CSRA-ites there. You just gotta learn what we all live in and drive. MD

I am in 12. I wish I was in site #1. That is a great looking site.

I am in 12. I wish I was in site #1. That is a great looking site. Site 1 is fun for the novelty of being right on the trail. It is also a very private, cozy site. That gets old though if you have water toys and want immediate water access (i.e. right on your site). A lot of the other sites get you beautiful views of the lake, and not just a small piece of a cove. MD Site 12 is also very nice!

Site #1 looked like it would be easy water access for us. Might not be good for boats.
Some of the sites on the big water had rock walls it seemed and thats not easy for carrying kayaks down and getting them in the water.
I hope to ride more than paddle this weekend though.
I am sure we will take some rides around the campground this weekend checking out all the sites more for future trips. We will look for you and hopefully be able to stop and say hello.

I camped @ site 1 last weekend with the water up like it is, we had no problem getting motorboats right to the site, but it was a climb down to the water.

Well I convinced my wife to just take the bikes this time. This is our first camping trip as a family, even though we both grew up camping. I am used to camping backcountry so this will feel like the Hilton!
Time to Ride, Ride, Ride!

We did 13.2 miles this morning. Rode from PETERSBURG to lake springs. Did the red/white loop and back to petersburg and around some pavement. Total of 17mi today. Gonna ride part of the new section tomorrow morning.
The 13.2 mile ride was my longest yet. Each time I try to get more miles.

What time were you there? Just before I left the lot to go home 3 riders were finishing up their ride (around 9am)

We started out of the campground at 11 am. We were cooking breakfast in the rain at 9! Loved running into you and your daughter this morning on the new section of Bartram. She was all smiles, and itching for more! Good for you. What is she, ten? Impressive. When I asked her about the dips, she said she loved them. She is our future. MD

Michael,
Yes, she is 10. She was a whooped pup by the time we got back to the campsite, but she does love those dips (or as she calls them "dirt bike hills").
She led the way most of the day Saturday on Bartram from Petersburg to Lake Springs, around the red/white loop, and back to the Petersburg parking lot. We took the pavement from there back to the campsite. She was a trooper. Before long, she will be blazing past me with ease.
It was good talking to you again and meeting Barbara. We really enjoyed camping at Petersburg. Really nice park. Hope to see you both out on the trails again soon.
