SORBA will be constructing a 90 foot boardwalk with materials and funds donated by Mulherin Lumber and Fred Russell, Augusta City Administrator. Date is tentatively set for Sunday, March 14. We have secured a boat that will transport materials to the Canal Trail - the work site is located right next to the river. We will need about 10 sets of hands as construction will proceed concurrently on different sections. The Fred Russell Memorial Boardwalk will create an all-weather surface to combat a seasonally very messy section of trail and will be a very welcomed upgrade to the trail in time for the Summit in May.
We will need a few tools in addition to what I will bring. Those and a time are TBD - stay tuned.

If it's possible, can we schedule work to start in the morning? Just found out I've got to make a flight out of town Sunday afternoon and will be gone for a week.

The Fred Russell Memorial Boardwalk Ummm, how can it be "memorial" when he's not dead yet?

A memorial is something designed to preserve the memory of a person, event, etc. The person doesn't necessarily need to be dead, it's just traditionally the person being remembered is dead. This will help you remember who donated the funds to install the boardwalk. Shouldn't it be the "Mulherin Lumber/Fred Russel Memorial Boardwalk brought to you by the SORBA CSRA and Augusta Canal Authority"? Drew, you gonna reply to my PM I sent a few weeks ago?

Thanks from me for all the work being done on this trail and all donations provided. It would have been nice to have done it 10 years ago before things got too bad, but better late than never. Don't forget to meet at 10am.

Here's the plan: Materials are coming by boat. We will meet at 10:00 AM on Sunday, March 14. Drive up the canal towpath road and park at the large, obvious pullover on the left just after going under Riverwatch Parkway overpass. I'll have most of the tools but we still will need some: cordless drills cordless saw - Drew: bring yours tape measures hammers try squares (or something to make 90% lines)
