I thought Modoc was great today. It is a classic ride for anyone who likes to ride singletrack.
Several trees down. Some I recall are ....Two big ones b/n 2.5 and 3 mile marker, and one big one just past 3 mile marker. There is also one spot on Modoc that needs a large drain cut to get the water from channeling down the trail like it is now. Been this way for a long time, but this year is uglier than usual.
Some mud here and there. Looks like Modoc and Turkey Creek are going to get burned by the USFS pretty soon. All the bridges I crossed had the leaves raked away.
Rode the old school connector today over to Turkey Creek. Got lost a few times, but finally found the way.

Let me/us know if you find out when the burning will commence. I've got plans to get out there in the next couple of weeks.

Tell me more about the old school way. I've connected them by way of pavement and forest road. Is there another?

I've connected them by way of pavement and forest road. Is there another? Can't say here. But I'd be glad to show you on a ride one day. Some trespassing involved, but not much. I only do it outside of hunting season. I did it back in 2007 and came away thinking I had just trespassed for 4-5 miles of the ride. Yesterday, it seemed like I only trespassed for about 1/2 mile. And I actually know the landowner of the 1/2 mile section. Not sure what land boundary lines are correct now. I'll say this. It is the "old school" connector route. The one we rode when Modoc went all the way to the powerlines. Getting onto it is a little more difficult, and once you get back there, it is confusing. There alot more options to ride now. And these confused me. I took some of them, and they just deadended. I did finally pop out at the white gate by the paved road we used to call TJ's route.

Hit Modoc Sunday as well - What fun! Dragged the short raggid bridge back into place, but it needs a little love. Saw a red jersey on 23 on the way home & thought Seenvic? I guess I should have stopped and said hey.
Found an odometer/computer @ the 2 1/2 mile mark - anyone?

The computer is Mark Hanna's, for sure. He lost it Sunday. Bring it to me and I'll give it to Mark.
That was me on 23. I was hurtin' at that point.

I guess Mark was in blue, saw him almost back @ the parking lot. Happy to return the lost wireless, even thou it worked with my setup (and has a working battery). Forgot what it was like to ride @ a measured pace.

Thanks for finding the computer EdgeE. I knew I must have lost it climbing over one of the trees at the 2-3 mile mark. We passed a couple of families with kids walking and i figured one of them would have picked it up. If you get it to BV I'll get it from him.
Thanks again.
Mark
