There's plenty of room on the map for some simple text/arrows.

Here is another draft, where I replaced #s with color coded abbreviations (e.g., Tg1, Tower gas crossing 1; BRc, Big Rock connector; Tc, Tower connector). I think it would be nice have the bridges marked as well, but I don't have the coordinates for them (yet). Looking at this version online, I'm not sure that it is any better. The colored text doesn't show up very well on the satellite map. But, at least it is another option to discuss. The original image size is 24"x24". The Garmin software that I have doesn't allow you to resize fonts on the XY axes. That might have to be done by hand in Photoshop. With some consensus and specific suggestions, I am willing to try one more draft. Alternatively, someone with artistic skill and/or vision can speak up and I will send them the GPX, jpg, and Photoshop files.

Brian: Good idea. Are the precise locations of these signs known? I tweaked the last map and think it is much better now. Also, I have attached it as a PDF. Attachments:

No coordinates in hand? Will they be placed on existing sign posts? If so, does anyone have coordinates for existing sign posts?

DK- no coordinates yet. We are going to plant the sign posts at the points where the trail is close to the road for emergency purposes. There will also be a post on the roads. The posts will have a sticker with the trail and a letter, e.g. "BW A" or "BW B" (for Brown Wave points A and B). Paul has the stickers already. "We" just need to get them out on the trails.

Ahhh. So... the trail intersection/direction sign posts, emergency access/egress sign posts, and other scattered landmarks (rock gardens, notable trees, bridges) might be useful as locator points on a map.

Careful there - you might end up being the Map Guy! I like where your head's at. OK here is a slightly ambitious idea for the web side of things..... Maybe those landmarks etc can be place on the map with a link to some of the pictures (either on a picture style storage site or the main trail page where they may be located) from the "how well do you know the trails" game that John started. I know it will mean squat to a rider with a map in hand while riding but how cool would that be for the web experience? It may also help newer riders recognize where they are on the trails and also help them if they are in a bad way on the trail to be able to say I am near the (insert trail feature), to help emergency and the guys in the red jerseys find them quicker. Just a thought Tom

I have been here over a year and did not know this trail existed. Is there any other information on it and what website is the originator referring to? Thanks
