Unless something keeps me from it, I'll meet Bill V and Brian R at the North parking lot at FATS at 11:00am Sunday. I'm anxious to check on the work we did last week.
See you there guys!

I've got myself and one other person with the possibility of 4 more. Will there be enough fire rakes and or McClouds or should I arrange to pick some up if available from the SORBA trailer? (which is at the Drawdy residence?) I already have one but we may need 4-5 more.

Might not be a bad idea to pick some up if you can. Better to have them and not need then than to need them and not have them.
Are you working with us at FATS, with the Canal guys, or hooking up with the Drawdys at Lick Fork? Just asking so we'll know to expect you or not.

I still plan on 11AM at North Parking Lot. Sounds like 3 of us. John Liebe, Brian Reynolds and me. Anyone is welcome.
Ted - good on you for recruiting some help. I'll call to see what/where you got done. We may do a little on Tower if I can get over there to look at it.

This morning, I made it from the top of Big Rock down to the bridge/flat area. That area is a mess.

Thanks for all that JT. If you have all of the east side done then I'll plan to go up the gravel about half way , drop into the trail and try to finish all the way to the north road/trail crossing which will complete the entire trail except for the nasty nasty section which will need brick. I'm expecting 4-5 people for the morning shift. Hopefully we get it done and the afternoon crew can work on skinny or whatever else needs work.

Bill, Do you have any rakes I can use for the am session or should i check with azdrawdy? I have a handful of tools that will be perfect for my small group. I have no rakes, just mccleods, pulaskis and shovels. Stop at Drawdy's on your way. I think we are going to work the Tower Loop. Get on it CW at the gas line. We'll see how far we get. I plan to take a look at what we did last weekend for sure.

Yes, the trailer is located at our house. We do appreciate a phone call before you stop by. If we don't answer, please leave a message. Thank you.

We had a big day at FATS today. My group of 5 split into a 2 and a 3 at the Firetower and cleaned drains. I went CW from the Firetower and where it gets very close together, we dropped down and started working CCW. So we ended up meeting the other 2 and then walking out.
Two other groups also worked on the Tower Loop, and I am pretty sure got 90-95% of it covered as far as drains go.
There is some steep stuff on Tower that will need the machines to work on. There are some sections at Tower that need armor and there just isn't any rock nearby.
There are some really dry sections out there, but some really wet ones too. Just soaking wet in some places.
I also looked at the two big armor jobs we did last Sunday. Both spots are excellent. All have drained a ton of water and alot of the dirt we put on top has been washed away. The tops of the rocks are bare, but the spaces between are filled in. Both have great lines thru them and will always be dry.
Great work. I think at FATS today were: Paul Farrow, John Liebe, Brian Reynolds, Todd Erskine, Troy Willard, Jimmy Bronstein, Jon Taylor, John Weekly, Edwin Scott, Liz, Coleman, Ava, Lila and Bill Victor. I may be missing someone. We had a big time.

Yesterday we finished Big Rock. We did some armoring and cleaning in the timber bridge area that is such a mess; but this area will need more armoring or a boardwalk if we keep the trail in its present location. Then we went to Tower, cw, made it to the bottom of the hill. JW's daughter McKenzie also joined us. I really like the square shovel- when I go in by myself, it will be with a Pulaski (which I wouldn't trade for anything) and shovel. The McCleod can be useful but only if enough people to carry all the tools.

I'd have to say hands down the McLeod is the do it all tool. Raking, chopping, scraping the duff, tamping, pulling trees, burying square nosed shovels six feet under. ..just kidding. Thanks for all your help. If we can get another few groups out in the next few weeks then a dent should be put in both Great Wall and Skinny.
