Did a couple of laps at Keg today. The trail is just in awesome condition. With all the rain there are at least a dozen creek crossings. If you spend most of your time at FATS and now you're bummed because it has been closed so much, you really need to treat yourself and ride Keg. It has a little bit of everything for the person who loves singletrack and the conditions have never been better. Riding Keg will make you a better biker and if 9 miles is not enough of a ride for you, just change directions and do a few more laps. I promise you will find something new to enjoy each time. The ridge above the rocky creek is an amazing view and the creek is flowing hard. Jut stop for a moment there and soak it all in. Enjoy.

Boulder Creek is my favorite part of Keg Creek Trail.
Thanks for the update Mark!

Thanks for the update. We tried riding Bartram yesterday but it was downright nasty. Really want to get some miles in this week/weekend and figured we would end up on Horn, but we'll make sure to hit Keg also.

MD, Just don't forget the change of clothes. Especially the dry socks or you'll have a cold ride home.

Just a heads up. between the 1st and 2nd creek crossing (going clockwise) There is a body of standing water about 3-4 feet across that is hub deep. Looked like on 4" but the leaves on the bottom decieved me. And its cold bbbrrrrrrrr.

It's a lot deeper than that. Keg is getting some use- Luke and I were out today and there were 2 cars in the parking lot when we left about 3pm. The second creek crossing (big drop in) is a little bit trickier.

Standing water. Hub-deep water. Mud. Creek crossings.
Is this trail rideable or not? Local-rideable? IMBA-rideable? Wink-wink-rideable?
You know, just asking...

One of those cars was mine and the other was a friend's. Thanks to everyone for directions and trail advice-we had a blast. May have to hit it again tomorrow or this weekend.

Hey MD, You don't like wearing those wet diapers home? Just takes you back to an earlier time in life.
The trail is very rideable as long as you don't mind wet feet.

Yeah, it's rideable. But you will get wet....especially if you fall over in a creek crossing like I did last night...
Trail is mostly dry, with mud puddles/holes here and there.

Thanks. We'll probably hit it Thursday. Working a half day. Friday looks like rain.
I was wearing mud stripes big-time Sunday after riding Bartram. Couldn't get up any speed on the Epic due to the greasy/sloppy conditions, but those roots sure were nonexistent! Nice to be back on FS.

MD, Trail is very ride-able. Few wet spots but nothing bad except that one that I described. As I mentioned it looked 4" deep because of the leaves. it was not.
what time do you plan on riding? I am thinking of riding somewhere in the morning.

We both work 7-11am Thursday morning. We'll be on either Keg or Horn at 1pm.
Horn gets a nod because if it is too mucky, we can hit tons of gravel. Keg gets the nod because I have only ridden it a couple of times, period.
We'll see...
If you have druthers and can ride at 1pm, post it up!

Brian, I'm planning to do Deep Step - BR - Tower - Deep Step Loop at 8:00am in the morning. I've got to be at the office at 1:30 for one appointment or I would ride in the afternoon. Figure FATS will be closed again after Tomorrow night.

The standing water spot dries up in the summer months but has gotten so bad that I plan to bridge it this Winter. There is a spring that feeds it. The high water table has made it awful this season.
