Rode Keg Creek Sunday morning, 11/8. Trail was in great shape with some of the vegetation dead for the winter already. Picked up a small amount of deadfall. Tree down at the first creek crossing about 2.5 miles ccw from the parking lot; easy walk around. Another down just before the half-way point which is a rider for a few people.

Rode Keg Creek Saturday 11/28. In addition to the above, there are two good size trees down together at mile 3.1; one tree with two trunks at mile 3.5; one down on the boulder creek reroute that took out part of the new trail and is laying over the creek; and three smaller trees down within 100 yards of the parking lot. In addition there are a few easy riders (really). Everything is an easy step over or walk around with the exception of the mess at 3.1 mile point.

got the trees near the parking lot and at Boulder Creek. The root ball from that toppled tree has taken the line out of the trail at that point but no problem to move a foot or so over but takes a tad more focus to build momentum to get up the short ramp afterward. Also got a number of trees on the 4-wheeler access/exit spur from the paved cul-de-sac down to the trail.

going clockwise, between the second creek crossing (dirt road) and the point of land there is a large tree down and you have to walk around it (cannot climb over do to the branches) There are also two other non riders.
besides a dozen or so areas of standing water the trail is in great shape.

JB and I went out there yesterday and tackled the downed trees. We started on the ones at the Boulder Creek re-route, but unfortunately ran out of gas before completing it. We left home with intentions of cutting a couple on the Canal trail so I didn't take my spare fuel. I will be out of town the rest of the week, so it will be this weekend before I can get back up there to finish it.

Me and JB finished up that tree on the boulder creek re-route, but my GF took a nasty fall right off the last bridge before the parking lot, head first right on the large rocks, banged her up pretty good, but she should be ok, just a few cuts, bunch of bruises, and a swolen knee.

Wow - hope she's ok. That's nasty stuff below to fall on.
Thanks, guys for all the tree work.

John Burnham and I rode the whole loop this morning and cut out some more stuff the storm brought down. It is all rideable now with one large pine that is down parallel to the trail 1/2 mile +or- past the Dickey's Branch concrete crossing on the FS road going CW. Could be less, but at 70% humidity, 90 degrees, and a heavy backpack every hundred yards feels like a mile. It is encroaching on the trail but you can ride/walk past it. I didn't want to run my new saw that hard to cut it up (it needs a break in period before running WAO), but this one does probably need to come out at some point.

10/30 one non rider cw past the "drop" creek crossing (a ways before you get to the rock crossing) up on the hill it is handle bar height and around 20" in diameter. Also just before the field there is one that might not be if going ccw. I found it fun cw. A hand saw (I forgot mine) could help removing one limb.
Noticed a few logs that have ride a rounds forming. For how much rain we had Monday, Wednesday and Thursday very little water in the creeks. Leaves are covering the trail. Always a great ride.

Rode Keg Saturday for the first time in several years. Rode CCW from parking lot and first 2mi was tricky with all the roots and rocks. Nice ride though. I guess I was the frist on the trail that day judging by the spiderwebs and lack of tracks in the sandy areas. Falling leaves made it a challenge to stay on the trail at times and hid some roots and rocks. Great ride though. Trail is in alot better shape than I remember.

Rode Keg late this morning and it was perfect weather for a ride. In addition to the usual suspects, there were two large branches/tree tops in the trail - right after the 50-60 ft wide ravine crossing (cw, after boulder creek, ~0.8 mile before the parking lot). The tree tops were blocking the trail, right at the the top of the short and steep climb out of the ravine. Strangely, the base of (at least) one branch looked like it was cut with a saw and it wasn't obvious why they would have been cut I muscled the branches over to the side and there were just thinner branches sticking out into the trail. A hand saw should completely clear these branches.

David K and I cut about 4 trees in the last half of the trail (going cw) this morning. Luke took care of the pine cones again. Love my little Echo; hate riding my old Jekyll (Rush still in the shop). Trail was in pretty good shape.

Dale blew off the trail today; David K and I lopped some branches. Trail was surprisingly dry. About 6 trees down, all riders; plus there are 3 half-in/half-out trees

Keg was drier for this time of year than I've ever seen it. Most small creeks were sans water!
We ran out of fuel with about 50 yards to go.

After all the hours/years of work put into Keg by DP, it is nice to see the recognition, week in/week out.

Thanks Dale, John T. and David for all the hard work. The trail looks great. The trail is so clean you not only feel the roots you can actually see them now.

I rode Keg on Saturday monring with my 9 yr old son. We had a great time. The trail was in fabulous shape. Thanks to the Keg crew for keeping it clear. We only saw one other rider headed the other way, but lots of people fishing.

Hiked the first .5 miles (4/3) with my girls. One non-rider at the sandy creek crossing. Also right across from the trail head the trail is eroding away with about 6" of tread. If you miss it you are going down a steep bank into the lake. Looks like some one did.
