Julie and I rode the Lakeview Trail this morning. Other than being hot and dry, the trail is in great shape. There were NO new trees down, only the 3 or 4 riders that have been there for a while. In a few places the grass is getting a little high and the brush is closing in on parts of the trail. I wish the trail was a little closer to the house so we could ride it a little more often.

Hey, John! We were camping at HKSP this weekend and rode the trail yesterday. We rode the Lakeview Loop, Turkey Ridge, and then the Lakeview Loop again. About a month ago we took a really slow lap on the Lakeview Loop and stopped and clipped a lot of the face slappers. We would like to take the DR mowers out there between now and next spring, but would need some help. Running a mower on each side of just the Lakeview Loop would be 14 miles of mowing. That's a lot.
Love the trail! It is a lot of fun to ride it!!! Seems like the last time you two were there we ran across each other on the trail. That almost happened again today!

Friend and I rode HK today and now I've found my third new favorite trail in three months. There are 3 non-riders down. If riding counter clock-wise, two are the first mile or so (sorry, didn't have my bike computer or GPS and never rode it before). One is chest high across one of the drainages. The third is towards the end of the trail. What a great trail! I've seen other threads where they talk about the perfect trail being 18 inches wide, well, this is it! There were some face slappers and nettles across the legs, but easily disregarded, added to the ambiance actually. And the views just made it better. Personally, I think clockwise would be a better way to ride for a newbie because of the rock outcroppings, easier to go down than up. But thats just my opinion. This trail was certainly worth the ride out and made the post ride pizza and scotch ale seem even more like a reward. Easily the most enjoyable ride since I've been here.

Reading Ozy's comments on our trails makes me smile.
The Lake Loop at HKSP is awesome. Great trail and great to be so close to the water for so long.
I'll give Ozy his first good karma.

Nice trail, eh? We're camping there again on Labor Day weekend. Trees will be gone soon thereafter. They'll probably get replaced by some new ones... MD

Okay, I'll ask a newbie question so everyone can have some fun. What is Karma as it relates to posts? And what is "exalt" and "smite"?

It's basically people giving/taking points away from you for doing/saying something. Go out and clear a downed tree, someone might exalt you (you gain a point). Tell someone to go fornicate themselves and you'll likely be smited.
