There is a big tree down across the trail. Its located on the backside going CW where you start heading back towards the trail heads. Sorry thats not a great description but I did not look at my computer to see what mile location it was at. Its maybe only rideable by some of you monsters out there. I am no where even gonna try that and I would guess the majority of folks riding the canal would not either. I had to walk around it through the woods. Just wanted to let everyone know

I would be willing to help move the tree if someone sets a time. I work at MCG and could meet after work. I plan on riding the Canal Saturday and I will see how big the tree is. I do not have a chain saw.

Rode the Canal loop Saturday morning. The tree is on the backside of the trail near the river. Its a large tree and a chain saw would be needed to remove it. It may be easyer to make a new trail around the tree.
I parked my truck in the water station parking lot. There was a pile of broken glass from a auto, looks like someone got their car broken into. The water station parking lot looks like the safest place to park. Is there a safer place to park thats near the Canal loop.

I will park in one of two places that seem fairly safe. Oe more than the other though. I will either park at the Savannah Rapids Pavillion at the headgates or will drive to the ball fields that you see from Calhoun Expressway. You can get to there from Washington road by taking the road directly across from the Members Gate of Augusta National. Then you just rode under Calhoun and cross the steel walkway by the pumping station. But that may be the parking lot you were talking about, as I have seen some glass there too.

Those baseball fields are at Eisenhower Park. I have seen several cars broken into in that parking lot -- so beware if you park there.

The headgates/Savannah Rapids Pavilion is the safest place to park I'd guess.

Hope to get the tree moved on Friday right after work about 3:00.. I cut some around it tonight with clippers and we rerouted it, but it doesn't flow that well.. Hopefully, I can get it done..

Thanks mosovich for all of the hard work you do on the Canal trail. I can not meet and help you with the tree Friday. Will meet up later.
