I just wanted to say thanks to all you out there who have worked on and developed and built all these trails in the area. I started out riding at Harbison State Forest, it is a great place, but i got bored fairly quickly. I discovered FATS and was in heaven, like WOW, I had no idea we had something this awesome this close to me ( I live right off exit 33 I20 in SC). After riding all the trails at FATS several times we decided to venture out to other areas, fist tried Boyd Pond, then Modoc, on to Turkey Creek and today we rode Keg creek, and wow, I am blown away at how great every single trail is. I read so much about FATS it almost seems like it is the only game in town, but when you get to those other trails, every one of them is awesome and unique in it's own way, they all the their challenges and I just wanted to give a big thumbs up to everyone out there who made it all possible, I just wish I had started riding sooner ;D

Yeah, I would have given more advanced warning, but it was really a last minute decision, but I found it just fine. It was a very fun trail, it gets just enough traffic to make it fairly easy to follow, the trail was in great shape, I think I hit one spot that was rather damp. I also think I may have accidentally skip a portion or two, my GPS said that I went just under 4 miles. I also think that I somehow lost the trail in the parking lot by the observatory, I ended up driving through another parking lot near the RC track that was a muddy mess!! I had I great time though, definitely need to go back when I didn't work all night the night before. I started at the parking lot just before the pond, rode up the power line to where it enters the woods and started all the fun!!

Thinking about heading to Boyd Pond in the morning after work, I work nights this week. From what I read, it isn't the easiest trail to find or follow! So, any advice or anyone gonna be there in the morning to show me the way by any chance?

Thanks guys, I have been all over singletracks.com looking at trails and such, But it turns out that I will not be going up there after all. But I am still wanting to take a trip somewhere, preferably somewhere with camping, maybe even cabins, then i can bring the whole family.

Hi, this is my first post to the forums, but I figured I would give it a try. I live in Aiken county SC and love to ride FATS pretty much every week for the last few months. I am new to mountain biking and I love it!! Anyways, I may have to take a trip to NC next weekend, I will be traveling up I77 thru Charlotte then up 85 to Exit 68 to a little town called Gold Hill. I am just dropping off something then I will be on my way. So in order to make the drive worth it I would like to hit up some trails nearby or maybe some that are along my route. I was checking out the Anne Springs Close Greenway and a couple others. Any advice as to which trails i should check out while I am there would be greatly appreciated. I'd even be willing to go an extra few miles if there are some "must ride" trails close enough. Let me know what you think, thanks!!
