I just read about Ken in Edgefield paper. I don't know if I knew Ken, but he and his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.
I know this sounds trite, but the article stated he died from natural causes, so at least he went out enjoying the trails he apparently dearly loved.
In my prayers,
Iron Heart.

I busted my fanny riding CC on Brown Wave near the bottom of the Whoop Di Does just before the river peninsula. Somehow a boulder the size of a bowling ball came ungrounded from the trail bank and my front tire hit it right in mid trail right over the last Whoop OUCH! Face plant in dirt, left leg caught between frame, right leg cut by chain ring and bleeding profusely, bruised ribs and ego. All I could do was lie there for 10 minutes and laugh about the pain. But the pain went away when I found my expensive camera was in tact. So I walked the peninsula with my 70-200 lens trying to get a good shot until my pain subsided; not quite the lens I wanted but this is one of my favorite shots with sun gradually setting through the pines off of Brown Wave; with the river in the background of the moss laden trees. Well its not actually moss but I will just say it is. If I could submit a video I would, but.....there was no mention in the rules lol.

From us that mountain bike with our dogs, have them trail trained (even on electronic collars) and pick up and move their poop; if any, to those that bitch about ALL dawns being on the trail :

Hey Ted, hope you and Nevin realize that I think ya'll are in the "trail beast" and extremely talented category. Nevin and I have the utmost respect for each other athletically (well me in my ancient past) and just rib each other in good fun. As to Nevin, there was some medical research phd student in the Rooster's Beak restaurant bragging about Nevin's research at MCG and his genius. (But don't let his head swell.) However, I think his better half though is far superior He did catch a red light in the Old Augusta=Aiken Valley Road the day I (we) dropped him, but he did a darn good job catching nearly back up. Thing is if he had kept on my 33 mph wheel in the flat valley, he wouldn't have caught that light Ted, I fixed this movie just for you:) Its a brand new version Some stills left the Island, oops FATS.

robeweise, from posts I read on this site its important all out of town riders let seenvic and nevin know what color your eyes are! Its for hunting purposes I think.
Dougie last week posted his were shi..... brown......lol....
Just kidding; Have fun; you shouldn't have to worry about hunters as long as your ride safe, not too early and not too late. All loops will take it out of you unless your Ted Stoddard.
I posted a spoof parking lot video from last weekend with serious comments from visitors from NC and Myrtle Beach. They were all raving how fun Sorbacsra's trails were. Kudos to all those trail builders; such a masterpiece and great flow!

Yall seem to think the trails belong to hunters, mountain bikes, deers, trail runners, etc. Sorry but been mountain biking for 30 years and have always done it mostly for the enjoyment with my dogs. My dogs are trained, on electronic collars and follow right behind my bike. If they drop off, they are either excusing themselves or getting tired.....I clean up after my dogs if its anywhere near a trail...plus one only goes about 4 miles max, the other can go maybe 10-15.
Not to say there can never be a rude rider either; there were girls flying down from the rock on gravel road about 4 abreast, I (without dogs) had to dive off the road for cover.
I think you need to talk about responsible outdoormen and outdoor pets not just crucify the pet and the owner of a pet that enjoys mtn biking.
Last I heard, Sorba didn't acquire the Bakers Dozen gravel roads and trails either....Wasn't that on a Saturday during hunting season?
