I think I've been riding siomewhere around 2002-2003. I started riding the canal trail on a hybrid bike. Then I decided that I needed a better bike so I bought an inexpensive hard tail from a local bike store and started riding more. I think the thing that got me really into riding was meeting some SORBA folks hosting a membership drive at the canal trail during the GA games. I met some great folks and saw that adult women mountain bike so i decided to attend the Explore the Trail ride the next month. It was all over after that ... I decided to buy a new bike in 2004, so I got a Santa Cruz Blur, then another, ......and now I have an Intense Spider. I have a group of friends that i usually ride with. Along with the exercise and being a stress reliever, it provides an opportunity to also socialize and have fun. While dating my husband, I got him into riding (he was a road rider, but never mountain biked) and now he rides with us too. We go on several trips during the year to ride in other areas. We always have a great time no matter the weather or if we have to spend the day watching my husband ride his bike while we push ours .

If I don't have to leave for a business trip on that day, I would like to attend.

Trainer

I was wondering if anyone has a trainer they no longer use or want that they would like to sell. I need to get my leg back in shape. Since I've never used a trainer before, does anyone have any suggestions on a model or what to look for when buying one?

I have had about 5 flats on my road bike in my past 2 rides (and I hardly ever ride it!), but rarely have flats on my mountain bike. Now that's bad luck!
Make sure you check your tire carefully for thorns, etc. when you change out a flat. Sometimes those thorns are so small that they are hard to find. I have always been told to keep track of the tire and tube orientation, so you know where the hole was on the tube and can search the tire in that location for the culprit.
One of my friends has been getting flats when riding the canal trail lately.

I started out with the lowest end Shimano pedal. Sometimes I had a lot of trouble getting out - even when I was stopped - I just couldn't get out. I had it set to the lowest possible tension. I read that others on mtbreview were also complaining about that particular model, but some said they had no problems. I'd check there as well.
I switched to eggbeaters and love them. It was a little different clipping in - but I could always get out!! Of course, I kept the same shoe, just changed out the cleat.

Sounds like fun. I'm not sure if I could make it the whole way. I've been off the bike for over 3 months now. Might be a good way to get back in the saddle (with a lot of pain)!

Video clips taken during the Baker's Dozen have now been added to www.suz.org. The thumbnails give an indication of the rider shown in the video although some have several consectutive riders captured. Thanks to Colby for taking the videos. They should be viewable in Windows Media Player. Send me an email, scollins@sorbacsra.org, if you have trouble viewing them.

OK. Since we were having trouble getting the detailed results on the forum and web page, I posted them on my site: www.suz.org. The pictures and videos will be added here in the near future (depends upon how ambitious I am tonight . No complaining about the site - I did it as a favor!
