Headed out today from HC, then pavel to Wine, then pavel back to HC. Nice easy 40 miles. Took a few minutes out to speak with some hikers on Wine. They made their appreciation of SORBA/CSRA so apparent! They have been hiking Wine for over 20 years, and stated that since "the mountain bikers" started maintaining the trail, it has only gotten better! Wine has actually seen quite a bit of use recently. With the exception of a half dozen non-riders, it's in great shape. Perhaps we can schedule a work party before the SMC. MD

Love the Drawdy Eye View. Do you, MD, ever ride or just take pictures? I'm beginning to think BD has all the skills!!! What have you seen on Wine that needs work? Just curious.

Good info. I took an out of towner on the Connector yesterday. Wish we had ridden Wine as well, now. He was stunned by Modoc and Turkey. Couldn't believe the diversity of trails we have here. I'd agree.

Modoc is good. Real good. A couple trees you have to step over, but a bunch of trees to ride over as well. Of course, it was it's usual beautiful setting.
Tread is visable, and in good shape.
Saw a bunch of hikers out there, and Jon Taylor and his dog.
The Modoc parking lot had zero empty parking spaces when I rode thru the lot. That was nice to see.

What have you seen on Wine that needs work? Just curious. There's actually been a lot done by who-knows-who in the last month. Me thinks the hikers were a big part of the debris removal. The trail was very clear compared to the days after the big rain last month. There are still several trees down in the first two miles (coming in from Key) and we will remove those very soon. If you could, try to schedule a work party in April for some mowing and stick-edging. MD

There were 7 trees cut off Wine yesterday. The trail is very rideable. Just a few spots of flood debris. This Spring, we'll need to get serious with the powered hedge-trimmers.

Thanks for your work, JT (Did DP help you?). Between the Marco-machines and the DRs, one good work party should get the trail ready for another year. MD

TedToddMon: Whenever you want to get this thing set up, let us know. We'll need some people to keep the DRs and Stihls (aka Marco-machines) moving along safely for about three miles. Also may not want to wait until it gets too hot. MD
