As concerned as Yeti Chick and I were about a potential mud bath on the bikes, we decided to stay on two feet and check out Wine Creek. We were pleasantly surprised. Only a couple trees down that we considered non-riders. We did remove quite a bit of derailleur-grabber debris, though! Nice hike. In the last 200 yards of our hike, we wrestled with a large pine. As we finished the challenge, I heard a very distinct whistle and looked up in the trees around us. Suddenly I saw a hunter, probably 40' up and 100' out from us, waving his orange and smiling broadly. Nope, we didn't know him, but he obviously appreciated out hunter orange. Make sure you wear yours too! MD

So...is Wine rideable now?

A friend of mine rode it over T-giving. Says it's a little rough, but rideable.

We hiked in perhaps 2 miles, starting at the kiosk on Hwy 283. Other than a couple of trees, and a bunch of leaves, the part of the trail we hiked was perfect, and would have been perfect for mountain biking. Did not come across one puddle.
The overgrowth that was a pain this past summer was nearly non-existent. There were a few long cane areas that could use some snipping, but absolutely nothing that would make you wish you were not riding!
I imagine it would stay this way through at least the middle of May (hint, hint).

We rode (well, tried to ride) all of Wine today. We had already cleared the first two miles of trees and debris last weekend, but that is apparently only a beginning. Quite a bit of trees and bank-overrun waste in the middle 2 miles. It's gonna take a few work parties to get things back in order.
Not a terrible ride, and definitely NOT unrideable. Just a bunch of crud on the trail.
