Ride today from West Dam, 9:30AM - Noon - full length of trail to Petersburg.
Bartram proper has trees down, Lake Springs, Raccoon, Opossum have many trees down. Storm of Saturday night focused a down burst on the east 1/3 of the trail. 1st trees on Bartram & Lake Springs are 1 mile from West Dam. Some of the larger trees that went down - went down in-line with the path.

You may be right about a tornado touching down . August 2nd there was a tornado watch for that area . Thats a lot of trees down . Did ride Bartram ( Spring Lakes to Petersburg ) only one big tree down . Then rode the new Bartram extension ( says 5 miles in and out but I think it may be a lot more ? ) and its clean all the way .

August 18 2008 . After riding Tower Saturday we stopped at Bartram for a cool down . Its still not ridable in Lake Springs or from Lake Springs to the Dam . One tree right after another down . May be easier to get a logging crew or maybe Pollard Lumber Yard to clean it up ? Bartram Lake Springs to CCWW road was just one down close to parking lot ?

We've marked the down trees from Petersburg to West Dam (not on the loops). From Petersburg to Lake Springs there is essentially one tree down just past the airstrip.
From Lake Springs to West Dam there are 3 trees down starting about 1/3 mile in quite close together but easy to lift your bike over. At the 1/2 mile point there is a large tree down that runs the length of the trail for about 20 feet and it has been cut in large chunks already but they are too large to roll or move still. About a tenth of a mile further a large pine has broken off overhead but it is easy to ride under. From there till the West Dam trail head the trail is clear.

The main trail is now clear. Luke and I cut it last night. I'm looking for help on the side loops. I need to finalize the home schedule and then post a work party.

The side loops (Lake Springs Trail and Possum Trot) are now clean except for one large tree very close to the LS / PT junction down by the boat ramp area. It is a fairly easy walk-over. I will get it when I get a new chain for the saw, unless somebody claims it first. I did not check the short Rabbit Track trails. I also did some trimming but the side loops could use a better trim.
