I was just curious if anyone had ridden the trail lately and had any insight to offer on the current conditions? I was thinking of hitting it this weekend.

Trail should be in 100% perfect condition. Definitely won't be any mud, and if there are any trees down, I will have my chainsaw with me Last rode it three weeks ago and it was perfect then. Actually, it was too darn fast. We need to put some fifteen degree banking in those turns. If you want to stop by and say hi, well, stop by. We'll probably have all kinds of liquid refreshments for a post-ride cooldown. Coozies encouraged. I will be camping at Petersburg this weekend at site 61 (Fri - Sun). My buddy from Charleston will be camping on 56 and will ride for the first time on dirt. Bought himself a Cannondale F5 from Phil (CR). Gerald is stepping away from a hunnert dollar WallyWorld special and going to his first real mountain bike. MD

We rode it last night and there are a couple of trees down. Didn't go all the way to West Dam, though. One tree has been down for a couple of weeks one blew down a couple of days ago.

rode it today - one tree down but can skirt it a few inches to one side. But it needs to be cut so the tread doesn't spread.

Wish we would have seen you out there. Would like to check out the new steed. We were off the trail by noon Sunday since camping checkout is 2pm.
Every time I ride that trail I grin from ear to ear. Yesterday I kept it in the big ring and had a blast. Like you said, except for the one tree (there were two, but someone removed one) the trail is in great shape. Because I was also entertaining friends I did not have the chainsaw with me, and it does need to be cut out due to the ride-around already being established.
Now it's back to FATS for a couple of weeks.

The trail across the airstrip has become very weedy. You can blast through fine but you get slapped in the face with 4' tall weeds. Probably a good choice for the gas powered hedge trimmer. The map shows one of those gravel roads dumping out at the head of the strip but I've never tried to locate it with a vehicle. The big pine down on Possum Trot near the fishing dock is still there - wanted to get it today but ran out of time.

Rode today (4/09) 3 trees down, one by the "keg creek" sign, one between the air strip and dirt road, one close to .5 mile mark (close to the dam) Mostly dry. The wet spots are really quagmires that are 2 or so inches deep and between 2-3 feet across. Did not have time to ride the extension.

Road Saturday the 18th, still a little muddy in some lower areas, thanks to whom ever put down the bricks.

If you're talking about the spot at the parking lot, You're welcome, that was an easy fix. It could stand a little more TLC in places. I left 6 bricks for later.

i rode bartram and the extinsion trail both in good shape no mud puddles just watch for slippry roots and bridges Figuring that FATS would be too mucky today, we headed back to Bartram again this morning. Did 2 out-n-backs plus the loops. Lotsa quick miles. Felt great. You are correct about the slippery bridges. The neat V-shaped bridge on the loops near Lake Springs was slippery as snot. Walked it yesterday, and walked it again today. It could really use some wire. Also, the loops will need some attention before the Bike Fest, seeing that they will be utilized due to the event being held at Lake Spring this year. Some snipping, some mowing needed. MD
