Hey everybody, my name is Stan. I ride mostly at Long Cane and F.A.T.S., but sometimes ride Hickory Knob. Lately I've been trimming limbs and bushes there, with little scissor-type hedge clippers. Anyway there is three trees down now on the red barn trail now. Otherwise, the trail is looking really good now. See ya'll on the trails!
The SO and I rode LC Saturday and ran into Derrick Kidd. We talked to him and a friend for several minutes, and he said you would be riding HKSP and lopping. He asked if we minded someone lopping HKSP while riding! HE!! NO. Thanks for your help!
Thanks for the info on the trees. The SO and I will get those trees off before you know it. We cleared a dozen trees off about six weeks ago. This weekend we rode LC and Modoc. We ran into Tommy Sunday at HKSP (we were on our boat watching him and his black dog on the trail) and he told us of one on the trail that was definitely not a rider. We appreciate the heads up and trail reports from you and Tommy!
Keep lopping and we'll cut the big'uns!
Michael

Trail's clear. We took out the B.O.B. this weekend while camping and cut out a half dozen. Had a good long talk with the ranger Monday morning just before doing the trail work. He is really excited about working with us to make this the best BD yet.

I'm not sure when you cut those trees down but we've been riding HK for the last month or so and there are three trees that have blocked the trail - you have to crawl under them. There is a BIG pine that someone has tried to pile little trees up in front of it to go over it - but you'll go over you handle bars on the other side - it's at least 2 1/2 feet high. We were hoping they would clear some of it up before Baker's Dozen. If we could take a chainsaw and cut it up, we would. Any suggestions?

The SO and I cut the trees off Deep Step this Thursday just before the rains hit and cleared the downed trees off Horn Creek this morning. We have camping reservations at HKSP Feb 15-18 and will bring the B.O.B. and chainsaw with us. We'll clear it up. Thanks for the heads-up. As far as the Baker's Dozen, we will be camping at spot 13 from April 2nd and will make numerous trips around the Lake View Loop that week. We always made sure HC was ready and we'll do the same with HKSP. Michael

Yep. Cut them all out including that one. That one was at least 22 - 24".
There is one on Turkey Ridge that I tried to cut with my Silky Sugoi but couldn't complete the job. Will hit it with the chainsaw the next time out.

We rode HKSP today and it was so nice not having to stop to go over/under the trees. We were able to knock off about 15 minute total ride time. You did a great job on the trail. However, the dips are pretty wet and with people riding the same lines they are getting sloppy. We tried to run either high or low in the wet spots but some riders didn't. I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Thanks again for all you do.
