Trail News – It has dried out a little and people are back on the trails…..watch the ticks, mosquitoes and flying ants. There is definitely overgrowth which is slowly being taken care of.
Turkey Creek – Work party successfully completed and the trail is good to go when last ridden, watch for 4-wheelers.
Wine Creek- Reports of some trees down and the middle section could still use some mowing.
Horn Creek/Lick Fork - No current report.
Hickory Knob – Trail needs to be mowed in several sections (Lake Loop and Beaver Run) and one tree down on Beaver Run.
Canal Off-Road – This trail has been mowed and 6 trees removed there is definitely some erosion from all the recent rains…….take care on the whoop-ti-doos near the pond particularly going clockwise…..that eroded spot resulted in some abrupt seat to body parts contact for some riders .
Modoc – At last report there were 4 trees down….. this trail has some overgrown areas as well.
Long Cane – Good shape past the first new section…..the descent to Memorial Bridge is in poor shape due to horse traffic while the trail was wet.
Baker Creek – No current report
Bartram (Wildwood) - No recent report
Keg Creek – No recent report
Bartram Trail (Lake) – Good condition – there are some issues with drainage that will be addressed at the National Public Trails Day work party in September also a strange tree to be removed. It is near a fairly wide muddy area and it appears that someone laboriously took a hatchet and stayed there and hacked away at the pine tree until it went down across the trail – hope it was kids because if not someone needs to get a life .
ORA – No recent report
Isaqueena – Some tree and trail issues.
VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION –
Canal Trail – Thanks to Ray and Trish Shively for all their work and coordination of a mini work party to get the canal trail back in shape. They worked with Paul Farrow after they removed the downed trees to mow the trail.
Please advise if you were inadvertently left off the volunteer recognition list!!
