Breaking News!
FATS UPDATE!!!
November Meeting - The November meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 8th upper level Nacho Mamas. Come at 7pm to eat – the meeting will start at 7:30. There are lots of things on the agenda…….progress and plans for the FATS, the next Explore the Trails Series ride, the SORBA-CSRA Christmas party, and plenty more…… come join us!
2nd Annual Fall Bikefest - Thanks to everyone who participated in the Bikefest Saturday – the weather for day and night rides was absolutely perfect!! ………..we had about 18 riders for the afternoon ride, about 20 folks for the cookout, 12 nightriders who closed the place down as we approached midnight (what was with that spooky foray into the Confederate graveyard guys??)! Great riding, great folks and great fun………never realized marshmallows could provide such entertainment
December Explore the Trail Series – To be announced!!
Trail News – The trails are generally in good shape we do have some maintenance that needs to be taken care of if we can get it scheduled in soon (trees down here and there mainly and some mowing that still needs to be finished)!
Turkey Creek – Very good condition, but could definitely use additional mowing at this point particularly from the 5 mile point on…….One non-rider tree down at mile 3 when entering from Key Bridge.
Wine Creek- All downed trees where removed a couple of weekends back.
Horn Creek/Lick Fork - Great condition!!
Hickory Knob – Hickory Knob had two trees down on the Lakeview Loop and one tree on Turkey Ridge. Beaver Run also has trees down on it, and in at least two places, the trail has been rerouted and mowing would be nice in some sections!
Canal Off-Road – Two trees down near the gully, generally in good condition with some eroded areas that need attention J.
Modoc – At last report there were 4 trees down….. this trail has some overgrown areas as well.
Long Cane – At last report LCMUT was super fast, super smooth and super good.
Baker Creek – No current report
Bartram (Wildwood) - No recent report
Keg Creek – No recent report
Bartram Trail (Lake) – Great condition.
Issaqueena - The trails south of Dam Road are off limits to bicyclists except on Sundays. The trails north of Dam Road are improving as we get to the various trouble spots. Pig Horse is still closed, but it is the only trail in North of Dam Road that remains closed. I continue looking for volunteers to help me open it up again.
ORA Trail - ORA Trail is in very good condition except for wash outs on hills at Moccasin Madness and Clown Corner.
VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION –
Thanks to the 56 volunteers who have worked on the FATS during September and October – see our website for details!!!
Thanks to the volunteers who worked Wine/Turkey……….Susan Collins and Eric Powell cleared the downed trees on Wine Creek………Daniel and Angela Allen attempted to mow the last two+ miles of Turkey (the DR Mower ended up with a broken cable and a cracked distributor and had to be pushed back up the trail)……maybe before the end of the year! Continued thanks to the Michael and Barbara Drawdy who continue to keep Horn Creek in perfect condition!!
Please advise if you were inadvertently left off the volunteer recognition list!!
