After two days with rain FATS needs a little time to dry out. While not a torrential downpour cumulatively there was around an inch of rain (average) across the area. This time of year with lower temperatures and the end of active growing season rain does not get absorbed or evaporate as quickly. Please do not ride FATS today, we will give an update later today. Thanks!
More rain in the early morning hours and FATS was still drying out from the previous rain. Please do not use the trail, it is more susceptible to damage right now due to the areas that have been refaced after rain. Thank you!
More rain a lot of it heavy in the overnight hours and through noontime. FATS is too wet to ride/run. It will take at least 48 to 72 hours to dry up enough to use. Trails were still soft in many spots from the rain last week. Please do hot use the trail while it is wet. Thank you!
FATS is still under US Forest Service closure. A trail check yesterday revealed a lot of water still on the trails with seeps running. We have had about 3 inches of rain in the past week and more rain today. Weather forecast for the coming week is looking better but trails will need to dry out. Stay tuned for updates.
FATS is open and the majority of the trails are in good condition with occasional wet/damp/muddy spots from continuing seeps. Please stay in the middle of the trail rather than riding around these areas.
Recent work on Deep Step and persistent water seeps requires that Deep Step remain closed longer so it can dry up and harden. The trail has been taped off, please do not access lower Skinny or Deep Step.
We had rain starting early Sunday and lasting into Monday. The trails still had active seeps prior to this last round of rain. Please allow the trails to dry out for 48 hours or so before using them. Thank you!
There was rain on Saturday and a scout reported trails still had mucky spots during a check on Friday. Additional rain early this morning with more in the forecast. Please do not ride the trails until they have had time to dry out. This time of year they will take 48 to 72 hours to dry out after repeated bouts of rain. Thank you!
The north trails at FATS - Big Rock and Tower are good as is Brown Wave in the south loops. There are some mucky areas still reported on Skinny and Great Wall so you might want to avoid Great Wall and lower Skinny. Deep Step was worked the most recently so the trail on the north side of the road should probably be avoided. On the south side there will be mucky areas but those are spots we are aware of and they need work.
