National Trails Day Celebration Ride and Cookout - June 3, 2017 Come join us!
Some chapters celebrate National Trails Day by setting up work parties but we have always celebrated the day by having a group ride and cookout to show our appreciation to all the volunteers as well as those who simply love the trails in our area. For the past few years we have been holding our National Trails Day celebration at the Long Cane Horse Trails. This system of trails is one of the best in our trail inventory. It is about an hour and fifteen minutes away and is maintained by the mountain bikers (many of whom are SORBAcsra members) in the Greenwood, SC area. These trails truly have something for everyone. The Greenwood group always does a stellar job of hosting this event. They lead rides of varying lengths (in its entirety this trail system has over 25 miles of trail). This year will be no different if the weather cooperates. So many good options for riding at this event> Approximately 10 miles to Big Rock and Back Ride the Inner Loop for 15 miles of fun The whole enchilada for a great 20+ mile ride And maybe a 25 mile gravel grinder! We will follow great riding up with good food, great socializing and potentially some great music. Ashby Stokes will be coming back to provide some awesome music if his schedule allows! If you have an event and need some great entertainment check out Ashby! If you haven’t been before please join us. If you have been before please come again this year. The link for the Survey Monkey is below so you can let us know you are going to be joining us so we can plan for the food. If you sign up for the cookout by May 31st you will be entered into a drawing for a prize to be given away at the cookout>>> sign up right here at Survey Monkey Sign-up for Cookout As with any of our events, this one could be canceled in the event of rain or trail conditions so please check the forum before you head up on the day of the event to make sure it is still on. See you there! This event typically draws between 60 and 70 attendees - come join us! Schedule to come as we get closer!

Directions to get to the June 2017 EtTR, National Trails Day Ride and Cookout - please arrive by 9:30am on Saturday, the rides will start at 10am! Allow about an hour and 15 minutes from the bridge on Fury's Ferry/28 that crosses from Georgia into South Carolina.
Here are the directions to get to the Fell Hunt Camp (the start of the ride and the cookout afterwards will be held there at the pavilion)-
Please bring your folding chairs if you can, there are a few picnic tables but not enough seating for the group we are expecting!
Directions: From Augusta (Fury’s Ferry/28)>cross the bridge into South Carolina and travel 25.9 miles on 28 into McCormick...Take a right at the traffic light in McCormick onto Hwy 221. Travel 11.4 miles then bear left onto Hwy 10 towards Greenwood traveling for approximately 4.5 miles. Turn left onto Cedar Springs Road/state road S24-47 and travel 2.5 miles. Fell Hunt Camp will be on your left.
Note: If you use Google maps, it will indicate that Fell Horse Camp is a quarter mile further on the right
This route is about the same length but will take you by the old historic Frazier-Pressley House in the Cedar Springs historic district.
From Augusta (Fury’s Ferry/28)>cross the bridge into South Carolina and travel 25.9 miles on 28 into McCormick...Take a right at the traffic light in McCormick onto Hwy 221. Travel 9.4 miles then turn left onto Cedar Springs Road/Schwy112/State Rd S-24-112. Travel approximately 4.7 miles and the road t-bones (the Frazier-Pressley House in straight ahead in the field), turn right still on Cedar Springs Road and travel approximately 1.5 miles to Fell Hunt Camp on your right.
From North Augusta - take 230 out of North Augusta when it dead ends into 23 turn left (there will be a volunteer fire department on the right and you will have just passed the Lick Fork Recreation Area sign a minute or two before. Turn left and watch for Key Road, turn right. If coming from the south, just stay on Key Rd until you can't drive straight anymore. If you come to a four way, go straight. The road will change names to Millway Rd sometime after you pass Pete's store at the 378 intersection.
Just go straight at every intersection until you get to one in which you can't go straight. Eventually you will cross SC221/10 and just drive straight. You will also cross a RR track when you cross 221/10. Keep going straight. You will come to an intersection where you have to go left or right. There will be a large antebellum home right in front of you and a cemetery over your left shoulder. Go right.
In about a mile or so on the right will be the Fell Hunt Camp.
