Creation of bike path in woods behind Paul Knox School

I have discussed with the superintendent of Aiken Co. school district (the owners)  the development of a bike path in the undeveloped woods behind Paul Knox. There is a general interest but the big question of liability always dampers any enthusiasm. 

I have talked to several North Augusta City Council members (monies?) and they are interested in anything that will pull kids away from their X-Boxes.

Does anyone know of a get around for the liability aspect for the property?

Who owns the land and how many acres is it? N.A. has the Greenway and Palmetto parkway paths so they should have experience with the liability aspect.

It is owned by Aiken County School System. I don't know acreage, but you could make a ballpark guess using the attached google map jpeg.
