Time to mark your calendars! On Saturday, November 7th 21st we will celebrate the 9th year for the SORBAcsra BikeFest and participate in the grand opening ceremony of the brand new Petersburg Trailhead.
Stay tuned for more details as they develop - here is how things are shaping up for 2015>
Grand Opening Ceremony
Trail Rides (varying lengths to suit riders of every level)
Outdoor "Movies" - cool bike videos of course
Fire Pit(a permanent one there there at the trailhead)
Night Rides (we will have some extra nightlights if you haven't taken a ride on the dark side before)
We will be posting more information in the coming days stay tuned! This event is not just for SORBAcsra members, bring your friends and family.
Here is the cool new pavilion up at the Petersburg Trailhead complete with a brand new grill - we will be cooking out and feeding the BikeFest attendees on Saturday, November 7th after the rides right here! Stay tuned for the Survey Monkey link so you can sign up. Click on the picture to enlarge.
Looking so forward to using the permanent firepit at the Petersburg Trailhead for the upcoming BikeFest. We'll bring the marshmallows you just need to bring your skewer (or stick)! This is the perfect time of year for a nice warm fire in the evening.
Was out this weekend at the Petersburg Trailhead and had a chance to try out the great new changing room. It even has an electrical outlet so if you need to add a light for changing after a nightride or just wanted to blow your hair dry, you are covered!
Less than 3 weeks until BikeFest and the grand opening of the Petersburg Trailhead!
Another amenity in place up at the Petersburg Trailhead>
The bike repair station at Petersburg trailhead has been installed. One heavy duty pump, almost any tool you might need for simple repairs, and, if necessary, a QR code to get instructions. Thanks for making this happen Andy Jordan's Bicycle Warehouse.
Although he didn't look convinced when taking the pictures, this repair station is Korben approved! And I know Korben's dad so the repair station would not have been christened by Korben ; )
Still have plenty of time but don't forget to sign up on Survey Monkeyif you plan to join us for the cookout!
Check out the new bike wash station at the Petersburg Trailhead! Why would you need it? Even though most people know not to ride the trails when they are wet, on the west side of Bartram there are some active water crossings so it is still easy to pick up mud on your bike and even after the trails are dry enough to ride there can still be some wet or muddy spots along this trail.
That wood the bike seats are hooked over will soon be replaced by the permanent piece.
Another piece of the Petersburg Trailhead in place and ready to go....the donation box! The front of the SORBAcsra donation box wasn't even painted when a local mountain biker made the first donation at Petersburg trailhead. All donations collected by SORBAcsra at Petersburg stay with SORBAcsra and are earmarked for maintenance and improvements on Bartram trail.
Had a chance to check out the new Petersburg trailhead after dark last night. Once it gets dark we will have bike videos rolling, a fire pit going (complete with some marshmallows) and we will have a night ride starting around 7pm with a couple of loaner lights if people want to give night riding a whirl!

We are exploring the option to reschedule this event for later in the month if needed.
