We are currently looking at Sunday, June 14th for our annual Turkey Creek/Wine Creek Mowathon. It will be dependent on the number of volunteers we can round up for this work party. This work party will involve mobilizing the majority of our equipment (DR mowers, hedgers, etc) so we will need operators (we already have a couple on board) and relief/safety/lopper sidekicks for each piece of equipment. Save the date, more details to come but if you already know you are available and can help, please email me at sorba.csra@gmail.comIt is important that we know you are planning to join us so we can plan to have enough equipment/tools to maximize the work we can do on these two trails. If we don't get enough volunteers we likely will bring just enough equipment/tools to do minimal work on those trails. Thanks!

We have already had some volunteers sign up (thank you!) if you are a chainsaw certified sawyer and are willing to commit to cutting some trees that are down in the first 1,000 feet of Wine Creek (Key Road side) a some point prior to the work party please let me know.
If we can get enough mowathon volunteers to get the regular work handled, we would like to be able to assign a couple of volunteers to help Jon M blaze Wine Creek on the same day. If you want to help but prefer not handling the powered equipment, this might be a perfect opportunity to help. Just let me know.
Thanks,
Angela

Angela,
I can chainsaw or mow, it doesn't matter to me.

Thanks jp - hoping to get a certified sawyer that cannot participate in the mowathon but might could get these trees out in the days leading up to the mowathon. Let's leave you on the mowing list for now until more people get signed up!
Thanks

The three trees have been removed at the beginning of Wine.
We are on for Sunday, June 14th unless we end up with weather issues. We hope to have all three DR mowers, the three hedgers, string trimmer, etc ready to go so that both of these trails can be cleared and ready to ride soon.We still need a few volunteers, we will be meeting at 8am and hope to be finished up by noon or one. If you can join us please email us sorba.csra@gmail.com Remember, this does not have to be a trail you like to ride, our goal is to keep all 150 miles of trail viable in our area. If we began to lose trail that will compress local mountain bikers into fewer and fewer miles. No one wants that. 150 miles of trail is a lot to try to maintain.

Steve since we are working on two different trails and on different sections of the trail groups might be starting at different spots. Can you send me your email address and I will put you on the list of people signed up for the work party (I'll be sending out more information via email before the end of the week)? Thank you!

We had 17 volunteers for the work party today! Many, many thanks to all of them for venturing out on a day that can only be described as very warm. We got a lot of work done, these two trails are ready to ride. We will have a quick ride through in the next week or so to see if we have any finishing work but we definitely handled the majority of work needed on this trail. The next work party will be in July at FATS, we'll need a good turnout for that trail system since it is 32 miles versus 12 miles for Turkey/Wine.
