Nevin and I took out 5 non-riders between Petersburg and Wildwood. A few had established ride arounds which we blocked as well. Short on time or we would have taken pics and cleared trees at the other end. Tread is in pretty good shape except for the usual problem areas.

Bartram Trail has received 2 inches of rain over the last six days. Please help protect our singletrack and do not ride wet trails.

non rider just 0.5 mile in heading towards petersburg. Trail is in good shape. We cut that one out this morning. Heard there were a few more between Pburg and Lake Springs; we'll try to get them next weekend.

Trail on the east side (Petersburg to West Dam) in good shape for riding. Some wet or soft spots but not more than about a dozen.

Petersburg to dam and Lake Springs currently bone dry and fast. Note a burn along Lake Springs near return road up hill to main Bartram Trail. No indication it was a controlled burn...lightning strike? Trails acted as fire breaks.

The Petersburg trailhead on Bartram Trail will be temporarily closed for timber harvest starting on Tuesday, May 26th. Please use Lake Springs, West Dam, or the Wildwood trailhead for parking and trail access. For trail users, there will be a marked detour through the campground and around the closed trailhead. This timber harvest is the first phase of a $100K expansion project to improve the Petersburg trailhead, parking area, and amenities for trail users. For details or more information, see this press release from the US Army Corps of Engineers. Thank you for your support.

Another single tree lightning strike near MP 4.5. Single tree still burning after their big storm last night. Trail damp but in good shape; signs are up routing you around Petersburg trail head with about .5 miles on pavement.

Tree down near the Keg Creek sign (between the Burg and airstrip) Also about 100ft from the Sailboat Club Rd. along the race rout there are two large trees down. I have been riding the race route from Burg to the Sail Boat Rd. as of late to make a loop. Good riding.
Lake Springs is in good shape and the tread is solid. Some wet spots from the afternoon rains.

According to the Army Corps of Engineers, the Petersburg parking lot will be OPEN for parking Friday through Sunday. The Petersburg parking area will be CLOSED Monday through Thursday.
If you do park at the Petersburg parking lot, Friday through Sunday, you still need to access Bartram Trail via the temporary detour that is marked through the campground.

The Petersburg area has been flagged and is re opened. A few non riders on it last week that might have been cleared by now. Also a non rider near lake about 4.25 miles in from West Dam. Trail is fast and firm.

Trail is fast and firm. As far as I know, the Petersburg parking lot is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays until construction is complete.

The trees have been cleared from Petersburg Trailhead to West Dam to include the Lake Springs loops. Thanks so much to Steve and team for all their continuing trail work! It is no small task to remove 11 trees and even harder in this heat and humidity.
