I've only ridden at FATS twice so far. I plan on riding again after it dries out some after the rains.
I was curious.. Which way in your opinion is the best direction to ride the trails? Clockwise or counter clockwise?
I've ridden skinny, brown wave and great wall so far. Looking forward to riding the other 3 trails soon.

The only trail I have a preference of direction on is Deep Step. Prefer CCW on that one.

Probably slightly prefer all the FATS trails CCW but we ride them both ways for variety!

Thanks! I will try them CCW on my next visit as I have only been CW so far.
I just remember skinny being really fast both times I've been. Happy riding!

chrisathensga I have been riding FATS since about May of last year. I got started riding mountain bikes because I was trying to lose about 100lbs or more. I remember the first time I rode Skinny I thought I was going to die. I rode with a buddy in the CCW direction. It is more climbing in the CCW direction but it is a gradual climb. It is a lot less climbing in the CW direction but the climbs are steeper. Brown Wave is a gradual climb in the CCW direction at the end but a steeper climb in the CW direction. Brown Wave is a totally different trail from one direction to the other. Great Wall is definitely a steeper climb in the CCW direction at the end of the trail. In the CW direction the climb out of Great Wall is more gradual but it is a longer climb. Deep Step is great to me in the CCW direction. It has plenty of climbing but lots of descents as well. The climb at the end is the toughest in that direction. I feel like there is a lot more climbing in the CW direction though. Big Rock in the CCW direction feels like you are climbing Mount Everest right after the first few very fast seconds of descending you start off with. I really enjoy Big Rock in the CW direction, it has a good mix of climbs as well as descents. Tower is more technical climbing in the CW direction. Tower in the CCW direction is definitely not as technical in the CW direction. I really enjoy all of FATS and in both directions but I do have my preferences though but so does everyone you ask. I really don't get this but there are some people out there that like to climb, weirdos! Just kidding. My preferences though is like this. Skinny CW Brown Wave CCW Great Wall CCW Deep Step CCW Big Rock CW Tower CCW I think though as I evolve into a better rider those might change as well. There are a lot of other great trails in the area besides FATS give them all a shot. One of my favorites in the area is Boyd's Pond, definitely try it out if you haven't already.
