It sounds great but where is it normally held at, local or far away?

Very close! Our annual BikeFest is held in the Lake Springs Recreation Area on Clarks Hill/Thurmond Lake at the Deer Run Pavilion. Depending on where you live in the area, is likely just 15 to 30 minutes away! Here is an attachment showing the layout of the Lake Springs Recreation Area> Lake Springs.pdf (43.75 KB)

- (Liv Giant will not be coming this year)
This is disappointing, really was looking forward to LIV's new bikes being on demo. Will still be coming tho. What do folks usually do if they have young kids not riding yet? Get a sitter for the day or trade off riding?

Normally if people bring their children, which we strongly encourage since it is a family event, they would probably be most comfortable bringing their spouse, significant other, or a friend to watch their children if they want to ride the demo bikes. Swapping out with a friend who also wants to try the demo bikes would also work well. The demo bikes will be out there for riding usually from just after noon until around 4 so plenty of time to ride without it taking the whole day if getting a sitter would work best!

Just a few pics to whet your appetite for the upcoming BikeFest (9th annual!!!)> Is a new bike in your future?? Specialized sure hopes so....come out and try the latest and greatest from their line Or how about a test ride on some of Giant's great new bikes (road or mountain)> We usually have at least 3 scheduled rides that will begin about 1pm of varying lengths> Should be seeing some more of the great Fall colors and temps in the next couple of weeks>> Don't forget to wear orange (and we will have a few spare orange vests just in case)> By 3:30 the bike games are underway (for kids of all ages)! How about a little bike limbo> The kids get a big kick out of this event since they have a natural advantage> How low can you go? Or what about some bunny hopping? Ghost Bike is always a challenge> Even for the big kids> By 5 or so it is chow time and these master cooks have been bringing you some amazing food for a lot of years now> Sign up for the cookout by midnight on October 26th and we'll put you into the drawing for a Thomson Elite seatpost or stem, nice! >> For a little fun after dark>> Night riding is not only a total blast but it truly extends your riding season. We always bring extra lights, come out and give it a try! Most of these are the clean-up crew or people waiting for the night riders to return but is one of the best parts of BikeFest to me, sitting around the fire, enjoying a marshmallow or two! Don't miss out this year, come for all of the fun or whatever part you want - it's free and it's fun! There are many more bike games and Trek will be bringing their demo truck this year!

Despite weeks of unseasonably warm weather, looks like we will have a chillier weather for our annual BikeFest on Saturday. A cold front will bring scattered showers, some wind and cooler temps on Saturday.
The demo trucks and all the other activities will continue as planned. There is a covered pavilion at Deer Run in case a stray shower passes over. Pull out your warmer cycling gear and come on! We always have our hot chocolate with marshmallows on hand.

Unfortunately this one day weather event has forced us to cancel this year's BikeFest (first time in 9 years we've had to cancel one). The rain, cold and 20 mph wind does not lend itself to a good outdoor event. The Giant, Trek and Specialized demo trucks have opted out as well due to the conditions.
Stay tuned for more details, we will likely have a casual cookout out at FATS or elsewhere in the next couple of weeks. Thanks so much to all the people who signed up and the volunteers who helped to put this event together.
