Hello! Visiting FATS next week and am looking for a recommended route and riding direction info. I would like to ride all loops with as little overlap as possible. I have put together the following loop and was looking for input. Park at Southern trail head.
- Left to Skinny
- Break off to Brown Wave
- Pick Skinny back up Ride Skinny to where Great Wall connects. Ride Great Wall counter-clockwise.
- Over to Deep Step
- Ride Deep Step to the connector trail to Big Rock.
- Ride Big Rock counter-clockwise to Tower connector
- Ride Tower counter-clockwise to Big Rock connector
- Finish Big Rock (clockwise)
- Back to connector to Southern Loops
- Finish Deep Step to Parking lot.
I hope this makes sense! Any input, suggestions, etc are welcome.
Thanks in advanced!

Most people typically ride the 'top 3' loops first (Deep Step, Big Rock, and Tower) since they're steeper and have more climbing. Get the hard stuff done first while you're fresh. Then do the easier southern loops. I (and many other people) prefer every loop CCW, except for Tower (although people seem to be pretty evenly spit as to which direction they prefer Tower). The easiest way direction-wise to ride all six is to just do them all CCW - always take right turns.
Start at southern trailhead. Right onto connector to Deep Step. Right on Deep Step Right on connector to Big Rock Right onto Big Rock. Right onto connector to Tower Right on Tower etc etc etc
You'll ride every inch, and only ride the connectors once each direction.
I usually make a pit stop back at the car after doing the 'top 3' to top off water bottles.
Really fast guys can do all 37 miles in under 3hrs. Most folks are around the 4hr mark.
