The ice storm hit the CSRA with full fury and it will take quite a while for things to get back to the new normal on our local trails. But amazingly just a day or two after things had begun to thaw out, but before all the power had been restored, volunteers were on the trails getting things cleaned up. Our local trails were not all impacted to the same degree - it appears that FATS, Mistletoe, Augusta Canal Singletrack, and Boyd Pond trails were probably the hardest hit. Keg, Wine/Turkey, Horn, Modoc, Bartram all had storm damage of varying degrees but small groups of dedicated volunteers were able to knock these out with hard work in about a day. We heard that Hickory Knob and Long Cane Horse Trail, both much further north, were really wet but did not have the extensive trees and debris down on the trails.
This will be reviewed and edited and volunteers filled in and more pictures added, just wanted to post the information as completely as possible and add a few pictures so people could see the enormity of what was ahead for us! Please email me at sorbacsra@gmail.com with any corrections or additional photos. Thanks so much to all the volunteers for stepping up. It has been a tough week and a half for the CSRA so amazing that so much trail work has been accomplished. Stay tuned for more information on upcoming trail work.
